There is maybe one game in that top 10 that interests me and zero games that are progressing the hobby at this point.

Tiger Woods Wii and Red Faction: Guerrilla are definitely huge step forwards in key areas, and from what I understand, EA Sports Active is a MUCH better game than Wii Fit and actually does it right.

Besides, progressing the hobby is overrated.  Fun games are fun games.

-----------

I think it's awesome that Killzone 2 and Halo Wars sold almost exactly the same amount.  Especially after the Sfags predicted that no one would buy Halo after they found out what type of game it is and Killzone 2 would have great legs.  Halo 3, COD4 360, and COD:WAW 360 completely bitchslap anything else on the HD platforms as far as "legs" go.

red faction is the biggest leap forward in gaming in years. fully destructable envirionments in a huge open world? how is that not a step forward?

fucking shit like prototype and the conduit seem like garbage compared to it

It's reaching the next step of, but not going outside the lines of the pre-existing focuses of realism and sandbox gaming.

edit: I should give it more credit for that. I might notice is in a commercial break, meaning that these days a typical FX network commercial break has an advertisement for like three or four games that are barely discernible from each other.

Yeah, but there are plenty of smaller games that ARE taking gaming in new and interesting (if not usually successful) directions.  These titles will never show up in an NPD Top Ten, but they are definitely out there.

I'm not sure what exactly you want.

This month uncombined

Quote
PROTOTYPE (360) 419.9K
UFC 2009:UNDISPUTED (360) 338.3K
EA SPORTS ACTIVE BUNDLE (Wii) 289.1K
TIGER WOODS PGA TOUR 10* (Wii) 272.4K
WII FIT (Wii) 271.6K
FIGHT NIGHT ROUND 4 (360) 260.8K
FIGHT NIGHT ROUND 4 (PS3) 210.3K
MARIO KART W/WHEEL (WII) 202.1K
RED FACTION:GUERRILLA (360) 199.4K
INFAMOUS (PS3) 192.7K

Last month

Quote
UFC 2009 Undisputed (X360) - 679,600
Wii Fit (Wii) - 352,800
EA Sports Active (Wii) - 345,800
UFC 2009 Undisputed (PS3) - 334,400
inFamous (PS3) - 175,900
Pokemon Platinum (NDS) - 168,900
Mario Kart Wii - 158,300
Punch-Out!! (Wii) - 156,900
X-Men Origins: Wolverine (X360) - 120,700

So UFC on 360 alone beat Fight Night 4 combined looking at first months.

Brock killed Boxing

(Image removed from quote.)

Dude, Fight Night Round 4 was only out on June 23rd, so it had about a week of sales. I have both games, and both are great, but FNR4 is going to get its sales as well. I imagine both games will come almost even in what they sale over time, that being a lot.

If those numbers are legit Evilbore is officially > GAF, but not >> The majority of discussion here is shit.

Its funny, 70,000 is the threshold for "hardcore" games on wii it seems.  That's like 1/4-1/6 of medium profile releases on the 360.  Nice to see Boom Blox 2 increased over last month! Will probably have legs.

GAF refuse, reporting for duty.

Is 25K for GTA: Chinatown Wars really that bad? It's over 100K now isn't it?

The Conduit definitely didn't perform as well as the Wii legion had hoped it would, but I'd hardly wave the failure flag yet. Nice review, Demi.  :lol I still think Deadly Creatures is worse, though.

The way the wii sales are crashing, I wonder if they'll break 300k next month.

It's sad to see solid titles like Red Faction just adrift in the over saturated market place. Too many games and not enough money makes me really have to narrow down my choices.

 :lol

what? how many times have people said shit like "wait until next month!" Killzone, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Resistance 2. etc etc. every time the game disappears off the charts the next month. People said it again in this case and Infamous not only returned the next month but sold more in the next month. If Ratchet and Clank can get two sequels on it's below average sales, this means one for Infamous is pretty much a lock. contrary to popular opinion, i don't actually care about the sales of the console systems. but do i care that Infamous did well? of course. I want a sequel.

Prototype went way over budget too.  Radical needs to sell a couple million to break even.  600k isn't even close to getting Activisions money back.

You are really hopeless :lol if you waited for those games.

out of those two, the grinder looks to be an okay, downscaled left 4 dead knockoff, and it looks like it has a decent amount of enemy variety

online co-op "kill all these monsters" games seem to be the next thing, how well that works out in the grinder might make or break it

i'd probably buy it if i had a wii, looks like it might be a fun, mindless pick up and play sort of game

i wouldn't touch that gladiator game, and it looks horrible, but i know a couple of people who get a kick out of those ultra-gory fighting games

The Grinder does look alright, and I don't think The Conduit was completely awful either.  That Gladiator game is the ugliest game ever, though.  The Conduit has terrible design, but The Gladiator makes it seem like it is their intention to make a offensive game to the senses.  They will probably rub the DVD with the scent of rotton eggs so it fills the air as the disk spins.

saints row psp would be fucking great

it would be awesome of volition also improved on the top-down GTA gameplay

Is UFC only on the 360?

No, it's 360/PS3 but apparently everyone who wanted it on PS3 bought it in the first month.  :-\

With a quick trip to the mathmobile, I'm guessing 526173 (total) - 338300 (360) = 187873 is the total number of PS3 sold.
