Twitter is gimped to where you can't login or search by person and add them to your favorites. You can however search trending topics and see tweets relating to the program you're watching. So if you happen to be watching The Witches of Breastwick(or batman, whatever), you can see everyone that's tweeted about it.
Facebook works the same as far as I can tell but why the fuck would you want it on your TV?
