That Mexico mission was tough as fucking hell. The Jack Bauer, one man army shit at the end was fucking awesome, even if I had to play it like 75 times.

yup, I'll need the cash in advance before Friday (when I get paid) if you want me to snag it this week -- Christmas has drained my coffers.

Rainbow 6 Vegas continues to shock me, both in its visuals, environmental destruction, and awesome physics.  Why did this game not get hyped by the media?  It's better than just about anything that's come out this year.  Not only is it a better shooter than Gears, but it out-does it at its own gimmick mechanic - the cover system.  It also looks better once you take into account that just about the entire environment can be destroyed in R6.

In a year of good shooters, R6V reigns supreme.  The gaming media needs to get off GoW's cock.

the environmental destruction is just the crazy puddin' atop the gameplay cake of R6. The cover system is so intuitive and nearly flawless in execution (a few of the early maps have off walls where cover won't kick in, but they're nowhere important) that I seriously can't imagine playing any similar stop-and-pop game that DOESN'T work like Vegas. Laying down suppression fire in an Asian themed casino while the air fills with smoke and debris just makes the nut froth out of my pants like the results of some sort of gaming-induced testicular epilepsy.

I would like to see the next game take place in an office building.  At least a few levels.  The levels in Vegas are just so interesting that I want to see more not mundane levels in these sorts of games.

The mission Red Lotus is so goddamend jawdropping, that giant golden dragon, the courtyard, jesus fuck it looks THAT GOOD OMG OMG

Or when I was tossing grenades down that skylight, I tossed one, it hit and shattered the glass but bounced a little THEN fell through the glass, it was so cool. Or the door breaching in the level thats just awesome. A few pieces are still standing and your character can sorta shove em outta the way.

God damn this game TRUMPS fucking GoW

I think R6 and GoW are really pretty different kinds of games. They're both tactical cover-based shooters, but Gears is so cinematic it feels like coasting through a movie trailer sometimes. MP is great fun, too. R6 feels more like, uh. Like a spreadsheet. It's methodical and careful, but exciting, too. Comparing them really doesn't work in my mind, although I'm glad I did buy both. Shame GoW is hogging the spotlight, though.

I think R6 is better on a technical level. It manages to achieve much more variety.

TVC, Drinky, and myself were playing a co-op mission of R6 Vegas last night where we had to rescue some hostages. So we make it just outside the room where the hostages are held. You can hear the gunmen inside threatening the hostages n whatnot. So Drinky and I get next to the door, but then we start thinking, how exactly should we go in. TVC looks around and sees another door, but we're at our door, but we cant shoot any hostages or we lose the mission.

So for a good minute we discuss what we should do, and all of a sudden *gunshots*. I thought TVC had run in, but soon discovered that we had spent so much time discussing the saving of the hostages that we waste valuable time and now their blood is on my hands.

I prefer GoW, but R6 is a strong 2nd place contender. The first casino level is awesome, especially when you're in the hotel with the multiple levels. I like that there are several points where there's no 100% coverage cover. You really need to keep an eye out on all sides

Maybe later on or next year, then.  I decided to order the U.S. Mega Man ZX instead.  Plus Lost Planet is next week (here) anyway.

Rainbow six leads to the entire wii library???? That doesnt make any sense.

Are you saying that when you play rainbow 6 you want to get a wii and all of its games?

Among all of its great traits, the best thing about R6 Vegas might be that it gets quite difficult later on in the game. On the standard difficulty, too, nevermind the realistic setting, which is probably downright cruel. But it's one of those games where no matter how hard it gets, you can always figure out what you're doing wrong using real world knowledge. Maybe you're not being patient enough, maybe you and your squadmates need to take a different angle or approach into a room, maybe some smoke grenades might help. There are a couple sections later on in the game I had to do over 10-15 times until I finally found the right approach. The game has barely left my 360 since it came out.

Was playing this earlier for the first time. This game is sooooo fucken awesome. I'll tell you why.

In the past I've hated Rainbow Six games (and other similar games). Basically the Tactical Shooter genre. Reason being, I hated micromanaging my teammates. It felt like a chore to me.

Now in this game, It just feels so easy. The actual command system, UI and everything pertaining to managing your AI teammates feels like lots of thought was put into it. I don't feel like I'm getting bogged down by having to keep tabs on where they should be placed and what they should do.

The guns look, feel and sound awesome! Visuals are great...I actually prefer them to the Gears of Wars visuals. The multiplayer is fun too (I don't have XBL so its local co-op...still fun though)

Great f'n game.
