There are several things it does well, particularly if you're a Star Wars fan. The environment, the feeling of immersion in a Star Wars world, particularly one that is about the same era as Ep. IV with the dingy-and-used or austere-and-industrial designs, is very good, while at the same time managing to bring a bit of fresh feeling to familiar locations. The voice acting's very good across the board, and the writing is good. Just saying that it's better than the Prequels' writing isn't really giving it enough credit: so far I am liking this as much or better than
Return of the Jedi.

Hey, there aren't any ewoks. That goes a long way. And you can kill a mess of Jawas.
Gameplay-wise, I've realized that it's similar to
God of War, a genre with which I am not historically thrilled (no pun intended) though I did enjoy the hell out of
Kung-Fu Panda which is essentially the same. Maybe I just hate Kratos. Or David Jaffe.
There have been some sequences which have been frustrating beyond anything else in recent experience, most of it due to two bad game designs: checkpoints and camera. The checkpoints are unevenly spaced. Several times there have been long sequences which would benefit from two or three checkpoints, not just from difficulty, but from having to hear the same dialog and/or watch the same, canned, short cutscene over and over and over again. Difficulty-wise though, it can also be meaninglessly hard; some of the enemies are cheap and other times the camera is incredibly unhelpful.
Is it worth picking up for US$20 or 30? Definitely. Do I plan to buy Ultimate Sith Edition...? No, but I might cave and pick up one of the DLC packs.
