So PayPal shuts down your account for inactivity?
« on: July 27, 2009, 06:08:54 PM »
I'm not a big ebayer, but I sometimes like to get rid of crap and get some money in the process.  I tried login to my PayPal account yesterday and it said my account was suspended.  My account was even verified.  And I could not even get their support number because the only way to get their phone number would be to login, which I could not.  I had to do some googling to obtain it.  I love it when companies hide their support numbers.  Jerks.

It's either that or leave it open for possible hacking/phishing.

Which makes me question their security protocols in the first place.

I haven't checked my PayPal account in a long time, I hope it's not gone.

Mine was untouched for upward of 5 years when someone used it to pay me back for shipping them something from Japan. I worried it would bounce or, worse, be received and then inaccessible.

As it turns out, the funds landed just fine and the account was accessible. The only problem is that it won't let me verify the account because I don't have a US billing address credit card anymore. Even if I did have a US CC with which to secure the verification, I don't think I want to give PayPal my CC number. Their customer service is legendarily bad, they pretend to be a bank but don't have any of the protections or limitations of a normal bank, and as Demi pointed out anything can be phished. Most of the hacks you hear about, the big leaks, start with a bit of social engineering. Tricking someone working phone support is just not that hard.

Yeah, I use mine about once every 2-3 years and it still works.  It does scare me that I have all that account money info just sitting there since I trust paypal about as far as I can touch it.
