So, Friday night. We go out, we have an awesome time, we get super drunk. We come around 1 and goof for awhile. A bunch of my friends are in town- There are 7 of us sleeping on our living room floor and 4 of us sleeping in a bedroom. Around 4:30 we go to bed. My wife wakes up at 8- She can't find her laptop. She thinks someone stole it. I'm like- Dude, thats stupid. There are 11 people here, no one would wander in and steal your laptop.
People start waking up. And a purse is missing. Bags are ripped open. My laptop and iPod are gone. Cell phones are missing. The outside door to our apartment is wide open. The genius in Apartment 3 was moving out and left the front door to the building wide open. They picked the first lock and just credit card'ed the second.
So, everyone is understandably upset, but pretty okay. We're happy no one got hurt. Someone says they woke up and saw someone moving around, but just figured it was one of us. They already charged like 1000$ worth of shit to someone's card. We're all kind of freaked that they were just walking around whil we were sleeping. We call the cops and settle into breakfast. Which is when Erica almost died. Kind of?
One of her pupils is fucking HUGE and the other one is regular sized. Our friend Quinn who is not a doctor but is a kind of survival dude and knows that this is a sign of neurlogical disfunction. Erica goes to the hospital,, some of us stay behind to wait for the cops and call the bank.
Also, it's August 1st, so we're moving out and some new people are moving in. So my wife and I are boxing shit up, waiting for the cops and hoping that Erica isn't dead. Also, because most of our cell phones are stolen, someone is on a bike, acting as a messanger between those of us moving/waiting for the cops and those of us waiting at the hospital to hear if Erica is DEAD.
Cops come- There were like 6 burglaries in our area that night, so we're ingood company. We
re also glad no one woke up- Someone got stabbed when they caught the dudes rummaging around in their apartment. Erica survived, but she's on some kind of 24/7 alert thing. The doctors think she had some kind of an aneryurism or a brain stem injury. Fucked up. We manage to move out, mostly.
After that we had already invited like 60 people to a party and no one had a laptop or a cell phone to call people and tell them it was off, so we had the party. I completely conked out around 12. I got up[ at 8 to start cleaning up. Then my parents came to pick up some of our boxes. Then church. I am a whole new kind of tired.
Anyway, that's how I lost my laptop and my iPod and my credit card all at once. And how my wife lost her thesis (They stole her THUMB DRIVE for fuck's sake) and her new laptop, but how Erica almost died and we had a party and moved out, anyway.
