I don't miss it a lick, but am always surprised how much I like it when I'm back. I grew up in the south bay; Gardena, Manhattan Beach. How about you?

Pretty good.  It had some dramatic moments, but it went well.

I am talking about Burbank/Toluca Lake. :lol

I dig visiting family in San Diego, as well.

... Tomorrow, I head off with my producer pals to meet up with the editor on their project.  That will be neat to see some early footage from their shoot.

Sandy Eggo is pretty sweet. It's hot, but the town's clean and the Mexican food is stellar.

There's a Big Boy at Narita Airport in Japan. How can Burbank have the only one?

There's more Big Boys in Japan than just that one, but that doesn't matter since those are the same in name only.

I think the one Willco is talking about is the original location, but from what I looked up, there's nothing different about the food.   :lol

I don't think the chain can be separated by continents and the food be the same.  America has superior diner abilities and technologies.  Drew Carey eats there.

Haha, other chains are exactly the same in a lot of other countries.  Going back to Japan (again), TGI Friday's is exactly the same over there as it is here, for example.  Big Boy is a typical "Familyres" and just has hamburger steaks and that kind of crap.  One opened up near me during my time over there, and I was really let down once I got inside.

But Denny's in Japan is utter crap. Really crap. And they don't have the breakfasts AT ALL, meaning they double-y double don't have them 24 hours.

I never went to Denny's.  I think I went to one in the States like once when I was kid, so I have no idea, but I wouldn't expect them to have an American-style breakfast in Japan.  I was shocked McDonald's has it!

I will be attending a table reading for The Simpsons tomorrow morning.  And a screening for a pilot that stars the lead actor of the project I'm currently involved in.  Hollywood networking day is going to be tiring. :-\

For some reason, my wife holds a special place in her heart for Coco's (not Coco Curry Ichibanya). Probably from her childhood. Anyways, they're pretty much non-existant outside California and Arizona now, but we found one in Akihabara, and she demanded that I take a picture of her in front of it.

Yup, Coco's is all over Japan too; my wife's tiny little hometown has one, and it was like THE place to be on weekends.  Huge wait.   :lol  It's also another familyres with the same kinds of hamburg steaks, a few kinds of pasta, and the like.  I'm sure that a few items on the menu might be the same as the U.S. ones.  Maybe.

We looked at the menu in the window (they weren't open yet), and it was completely different from the Coco's that she remembers.

Yeah I want to live in San Fran, but do you realize how expensive that place is? Fuck.

I've got family in Oakland and surrounding cities. I wonder how they make it. They're not exactly rich.

Everywhere is expensive.  Cost of life is grossly over exaggerated.  It's just as expensive, if not more, to live where I do on the East Coast.

Not really. Whenever my wife and I go back to Omaha we are floored by the real estate prices. We could buy a huge McMansion back there for what we paid for our modest home in Seattle.

Hey, how is Corey Haim doing, anyway?

When I first arrived in '93, I assumed they'd have those breakfast items, but when I showed up for breakfast all they had was fries and Teriyaki McBurgers. I can't do that for breakfast. Anymore, all the places have it; even those nasty McGriddles.
