My mom's had a bunch of them done and says they're actually pretty painless these days.

Had one earlier this year. Wasn't as bad as everyone made it out to be. The guy I went to made it pretty painless and gave me lots of C+ grade narcotics, anyway.

I forgot to follow up on this.  It was 100% painless.  It wasn't even sore afterward when the anesthetic wore off, though they said it would be.

I grind my teeth so badly that I have damaged the roots of several teeth. I’ve had 4 or 5 root canals, and shattered one adult molar l, which then had to be extracted.

Root canals are zero fun.

Had a root canal at the beginning of July for my front tooth. It's true the actual procedure didn't cause pain. The local that the endodontist gave made me cry at how painful that is.
