Holy crap, look at the scores this thing is getting (ripped from gaf):

[English]
Games Master UK: 96%
Playstation Official Magazine UK: 9/10
PlayStation Beyond: 90%
OXM Australia: 9/10
Total Film: 5/5
Game Informer: 9.5 (Second Opinion: 9.5)

[German]
Consol Plus: 91%
Maniac: 90%
360-Live: 90% (Reader Review: 88%)
Play³: 90%

[French]
Jeux Vidéo: 19/20

[Finnish]
Pelaaja: 10/10

I already bought it, but it's nice to get some confirmation that it'll probably be good.

Those scores seem way too high.  I mean, the demo's good, but not that good.

There you go scoffing at something you haven't played. I'm sure those reviewers gave those near-perfect scores from that demo too.

Well scores are going to be higher than normal because 1) The source material makes geeky fans happy (see Ghostbuster scores despite it being a shitty game) and 2) Lowered expectations from licensed products.

Seems like it's legitimately good though, but like Lyte said, maybe not that good.

Sure.  DQIX/MH3/FFwhatever all get overrated scores.

Since Batman is UE3.0 does the X360 version shit all over the PS3 version like usual?

It seems to click with some people and I suspect that's where the higher scores are coming from.

Let's not compare this to Ghostbusters which didn't actually score brilliantly (70s = not brilliantly).  I also conducted a survey and 100% of non-Batman fans think this game is awesome.

I'm stunned the demo is as good as it is. The controls are forgiving, but the gameplay is reasonably challenging and the graphics are teh sexay. I'll be buying this.

Btw, I wouldn't be surprised if the opening prerendered HD cinematic through downtown Gotham and the road to AA doesn't take up about 200MB+ of that 1500MB.
:heartbeat :hyper :hump for the new Harley Quinn costume.

The cutscenes seemed prerendered to me, unless they have put a weird super filter over everything.  It's really noticeable on the PC version.

I thought the combat was a joke (shallow & easy), but the stealth stuff was pretty cool.  Will get this and pretend it's the next splinter cell.

Decent demo.  I liked the freedom to take out the guys in the way you want in the last scene.

The combat was decent, but is definitely auto combat (the evil brother of auto-platforming from PoP and Ass Creed--not much skill required to do, but huge visual output.)  I hope it changes up considerably throughout the game, 'cause it was kinda just  adequate for the opening scenes.  Seems like the gargoyles are a big crutch too.  Game Informer compared it to Bioshock in their review, saying it's going to be that kind of surprise hit, but I wasn't getting that impression at all from this demo.  Whereas the Bioshock demo was holy fuck from start to finish with the promise of many amazing things to come, this just felt like it could be a solid game.

I do think the game will sell gazillions though.  One thing the demo absolutely nailed was the "THIS IS THE SEQUEL TO TDK AND YOU'RE GOING TO FUCKING BUY IT" feeling with a sweet opening cinematic and pretty bad ass trailer at the end.

What brawlers have complex, non-auto fighting?

The combat, and even the stealth sequences, have the score counter in the top left.  Complaining about them is like saying Mirror's Edge is dull when you take a brisk walk though each level.  It's about trying to rack up high combos and make it look cool.  There is a reason that the game has a separate challenge room mode that is all about score attack stuff.

Has nothing to do with complexity.

Lets see...god of war, dmc, ng.  hell, even heavenly sword, conan, and other weak action games have more going on in the fighting engine department.  2D games as well-- Double Dragon Advance, RCR Ex, Castle Crashers.   these games all have more depth and challenge than what I experienced in the demo.

You don't even have to fucking aim.  Sorry, the fighting in here is for 3 year olds and there's really no defending it.  You just hit square with your eyes closed and win.  Or keep them open and do triangle attacks when the very HUGE visibly shown window appears for an enemy attack.

I'm hoping you at least unlock different moves/combo strings in the full game.  Cause another complaint is that you just have very few moves.  This is no streets of rage 2.

I'd say every brawler I can think of has more depth in the fighting than this.  Ok, Castle Crashers doesn't but that's why CC kinda sucks outside the rpg elements and art.

I still like the batman demo, but that's because of the stealth.  If the game was a straight brawler I wouldn't even touch it after the demo.

Castle Crashers definitely has more depth.  you have to block, use timing, and come up with air combos that take you to safety in crowded situations.   This demo doesn't require that much of you.

OK, thanks. I get it now, I think. I loved Golden Axe and the Kunio-kun games, and with those as a reference point, the difference with Batman AA gameplay is clear. I wasn't into God of War, because it seemed to rely on more butt-stabbing ranged-attack enemies after the game's midpoint. DMC I can't even talk about; I've played the demos and they didn't grab me, so I guess I like OLD brawlers but haven't moved up to this gen's representation of the genre.

I guess rather than expecting Batman AA to be a classic brawler with exploration elements, I just want to play as Batman through a gorgeous comic-book setting. The demo had all that, and all the retail version has to do is keep doing what the demo did.

I also think the main gameplay is going to be figuring out how to whack an entire room full of baddies without taking any damage. Go in, take a guy out, bail before reinforcements with guns show up, lather, rinse, repeat. I'm up for 10+ hours of that.

Got a 9.5 in GI, not that a GI score means a whole lot. They gushed about it, but it sounded like it had more to do with the relative quality of the game when compared to other Batman games than anything else.

I just took advantage of an Amazon deal that lets you get guaranteed delivery on the 25th.  They have the game for $52.99, but if you enter the promo code "5OFFARKM", you get an additional $5 off.

On my doorstop Tuesday, for $48?  F U GAMESTOP

I thought it might be a Prime-only thing, but another friend that doesn't use Prime said he got a message saying he was given shipping confirmation on release day for free.  Try putting the game in a cart and see if you get a free 8/25 delivery shipping option.

I got the option but it still cost $5 shipping.  But hey $53 is still cheaper than $50+tax+gas at Fry's or $60+tax+gas elsewhere.

Gonna give this game a shot since the demo was very alright and the reviews are really good.

Yeah, it's been getting far too much praise to pass up on.  I never use Amazon for games; is that release day shipping option standard?  If so, fuck Gamestop from here on out, unless I've got shit to get rid of.
