John Hughes, the director and screenwriter who helped define a young generation with his ’80s films “Sixteen Candles,” “The Breakfast Club” and “Pretty in Pink,” has died, according to the Associated Press.

Michelle Bega, a spokeswoman for the filmmaker, said that Mr. Hughes died of a heart attack in Manhattan during a morning walk.

Yeah, it gets pretty sappy, but I finally came around to even liking those parts, probably due to my old age. :'(

I won't deny that it would have been a much stronger film if they had stuck the course as a straight-up comedy though.

I actually think that a sequel that tells the story of a middle-aged Ferris Bueller played by Matthew Broderick, directed and written by John Hughes would be one helluva movie concept.

I mean, the philosophy in Ferris Bueller's Day Off is even more relevant now than it was then, due to office jobs, over reliance on computers and more.

Matthew said he'd only be in a sequel if John wrote/directed it. Now it ain't happenin.
