I'm trying to transfer several gigs worth of files between my XP desktop and my Vista laptop over my network. Using the Windows Easy Transfer looked like it was going to take forever, so I aborted and networked the machines the old fashioned way to see if I saw an improvement. I didn't. It seems data is transferring around 1.2MB/second. At this rate, it will take days. Not only is it transferring slowly, but it's killing my internet connectivity. I had to cancel the transfer just to search for help!
What's the deal? It wasn't anywhere near as slow when I transferred stuff to the desktop a few years ago.
Edit: Barring any breakthroughs, I'm just going to go out and get a flash drive or something tomorrow. Would probably be useful to have anway.
