I don't know what I'm doing in Diablo II

I booted the game up for the first time in about a year today and have no idea where to go.  I checked my quests, but all I got was some irrelevant information about the quest that doesn't help me find where I'm supposed to go at all. 

does this game not have map markers or anything like that?

Dude, just wander around and fight monsters. The "quests" in Diablo II are all super easy.
