Need some computer help....
« on: August 11, 2009, 03:50:33 PM »
OK, so this past weekend I started to have problems with two sites - Yahoo! and YouTube - and just those two.  Everything else works fine.  Yahoo wouldn't load and YouTube would appear sometimes but it wouldn't play 50% of the videos I selected.  I'd just get a black box with a loading symbol until finally it tells me that an error occured and to try again later.  No big deal, I thought.  Could be busy or maybe some DoS BS going on.   But now it's several days later and I'm still running into the same stupid shit.  I've uninstalled java and reloaded the most current version, I've upgraded my flash player, I've unloaded my cache....nothing worked.  I'm inclined to believe that it may have something to do with my router 'cause I'm having similar problems with yahoo and youtube on my iphone when I'm connected to my wi-fi network.  Anyone know how to fix this or have any ideas?

Put the IP of the computer on the DMZ so none of the ports are blocked. Or just plug your comp. into the modem to see if the router was the culprit.

Thanks Zero.

Yeah, it definitely looks like a router issue. I wonder what could've caused it?  Strange.  Oh well, it might be time for a new one anyway.  I've had the same one now for 6 years.

Yeah, I just had a router go out on me as well...  it wouldn't let me configure it first, and then it progressed to showing everything on my network as having limited to no connectivity...   :'(  What a pain, it's only 6 months old...  I'm gonna have to find another 8+ port router...
