Kosma's right. The level of play on Quake Live is obscene.

lol who cares its

1. Quake, something nobody can care about if they havent played it before because of the ridiculous level that players play on
2. Macs, something nobody that cares about gaming owns

1. it's free
2. had a much meaner comment in here, but yeah, believe it or not, some mac owners like games!  wow!

I care about games, and I own a Mac, fucktwit.

I just like not having to troubleshoot my own damned computers when I'm at home. Macs are by-and-large bulletproof compared to my PC experience. With WinXP I began to think otherwise, but then the Vista user-experience I've read about appears to confirm I'm still using the less troublesome setup. Yeah, I miss out on some PC games, but with the entire market shifting to console, it doesn't hurt at all.

I'm interested in this.  Sure, I could boot up into Windows to play the game now, but I'd much rather be able to play Quake Live on OSX.

You forgot the part where PC games have achievements now. Seems Macs are that much farther behind :smug

I'm interested in it because I love the idea of playing a high quality competitive shooter on a browser.  It's a testament to the advancement of internet technologies of late.

Heh. It's hard enough to get Mac users to admit that the 360 is a good system -- "MS SUX!" is their battle cry. Getting them to install whatever MS GFW crap is required to keep all the Live stuff intact on their Mac is like asking to paint garters on a crucified Christ.

Achievements *usually* suck.

This is good, but my Mac is so shitty it cries when trying to run Braid. Fuck PC gaming...like the Republican party, you can only side with it if you're rich.

I've had very little need to troubleshoot any OS-related problems using Vista (or W7), FWIW.

Mac owners are the Wii owners of the computer set.   :smug

It's not a bad analogy at all. It's not trying to be the aggro/hardcore choice in its category, people complain the platform is unnecessarily nerfed but the target audience loves it all the same, and the titles that get the most action on it are all 1st party apps.

...and it's outdated tech at more-or-less current-tech prices, but fans buy the hardware with a smile on their face while others look on in mystified awe or disbelief.

Not when you depend on them for self-esteem!

and yeah, typical gaming forum thread that mentions mac...a stupid conversation that would never take place in real life unless you really wanted to get excommunicated from your circle of friends.

fuck this shit, I'm gonna lose at some Quake 3 tomorrow and love it.

Yeah it was really him, he was at Quakecon playing Quake Live in the public servers for several hours. It wasn't 1v1 or anything, it was a 16-player FFA, and I just happened to come up on him with his back turned to me at just the right moment. It was still awesome, though. :lol

Then I said that his 400w fatality-brand PSUs that he was trying to sell sucked. He said they were "entry level" and then we went our seperate ways.
