Hopefully Slim will reinstate BC with PS2, but I doubt that. Glad I still have my software BC 80 gig PS3. Won't buy the slim, as I am fine with my regular phat PS3, but this is the first good move Sony has made in a LONG while.

they said all the same features as current PS3, so no BC

The end?
Well at least it dropped the price, although UK price was not listed.

Now lets see some teh specs

I prefer the design of the PS3 phat, as it looks slick underneath my black telly. But I do appreciate that they lowered the form factor and energy consumption. If I hadn't already owned a PS3, it would have compelled me to buy one.

UK doesn't use euro

Uk price is gonna be 299 pounds, because the pound has taking a beating :punch

I have feeling that they will hike a price a little bit in UK.
If they would go directly,PS3 would cost 30 euros more than PSPGo :lol

PSPGo is supposed to be 230 pounds and that equals 270 euro.

I'm liking what I'm reading about firmware 3.0 (the integration of the PSN store - and other features - with the xmb is long overdue), but I'm not sure if these changes warrant the big increment jump. Imo, the only thing worthy of inclusion in a 3.0 FW is BC.

while true, every X.0 update sony has done has never been worthy.

The lack of BC-related announcements is mind boggling. I mean at one point the amount of rumors surrounding it (with the patents and everything) were just as intense as the PS3 Slim's... well close but not quite. We know one thing for sure, a variety of solutions has been studied, let's just hope that those studies will come to fruition and not be ignored like so many patents before.

As long as the PS2 is on store shelves, they'll never add it. They make too much money. Next year will be when it goes in. Look how long it took for Uncharted to become Greatest Hits. They didn't drop it, because it was bundled. 2 days after it becomes GH, the bundle becomes discounted.

Why should Sony cannibalize Ps2 sales by announcing BC for the Ps3? Sony still wants people to buy Ps2 consoles, especially since Ps2 is very profitable for them...

Ps2 bc for Ps3 will not happen soon.

Don't the plan to stop making PS2's in November? If that's the case I expect BC to be announced at TGS and be released like a week before December.

Thats just some stuff someone said so its validity is unknown.

Honestly i think they can squeeze one more holiday season with the PS2 so if BC actually exists i would say next year.

The PS3 stuff today glossed over what was announced for the PSP.  PSP Minis is going to be pretty neat.  Depending on the game, I'll get it on my PSP instead of ipod touch/future iphone.  Like, Pac-Man CE is coming to the PSP on this service, and I'd much rather play that with a proper D-pad.  Also, the new LocoRoco game they announced looks like it could be controlled entirely by L/R.  I just find it hilarious that there is a single game now that can make use of the PSP Go in closed mode.

The comic stuff also seemed pretty neat, but I haven't been into comics for good while.  I tried reading a spider-man issue a while back and there was an anti-Venom that was white, I dunno, it was weird.

I'm hoping Microsoft has cool stuff tomorrow.  I mean, other than Lost Planet 2 co-op demo and SHADOW COMPLEX.

Fifteen titles will be available for purchase when the Minis section launches in October, with Sony expecting at least fifty titles by the end of the year. Confirmed for release are Fieldrunners, Puzzle Scape, Alien Havok, Sudoku, Pacman Championship Edition, Championship Manager, Burn Zombie Burn 2D, Funky Punch, Breakquest, and Melody Bloxx.

there is also new info on GT5 but whatever, read it here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=17182026&postcount=5055 (better translation)

this GT5 thing is getting translated in real time.  Apparently it has head tracking via PS Eye (?) and interior car damage.  They're also changing the physics system so cars might feel like cars now.  It's confusing.

Nice price drop and the slim but not sure if $299 is enough to turn it around.  Maybe if they "re-launch" Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2 turns out great, then that could be a decent combination.

I think both are distinguished mentally-challenged.

But I just like to use a physical medium(besides my body) to control my games. I don't like to play a game without any sort of controller.

And Natal just seems to be "waving around at something", so far.

You don't use a controller, you wave around and do funny stuff.
And Natal just seem to be more advanced.

I prefer controls like Wii waggle when it comes to motion controls. I want to use a controller. Not my body.

more than half of the games shown in that shitty motion reel were shitty eyetoy games repackaged with light-up dildos with rampant gesticulation. i'm excited for both technologies, but jeezus christ let "wii ____" have it's niche and let eyetoy have it's niche and give us some full-blown games.

Some new stuff,

New game from Namco and Game Republic...something like The Last Guardian
<a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/maijin-the-fallen-realm-announced">Maijin: The Fallen Realm announced </a>

Quote
A trailer shown at gamescom began with a warrior character wandering round the ruins of a castle. It wasn't long before he came across some spikey demon types and started battering them with a big stick.

The message "A young thief stumbles across a being of legend" scrolled across the screen. A hill in the background turned out to be a huge monster which lumbered towards the demons and started bashing them. The final shots were of the warrior and the monster wandering peacefully in the grounds of a huge castle.

Afterwards it was explained that the two characters co-operate to solve puzzles and overcome obstacles. A bit like PS3 exclusive The Last Guardian, then? The game certainly looked a bit similar. Apparently it will be very much "in the Japanese style", with plenty of detail to the lush environments.

Spring 2010,PS360

Ninja Theory is also making a game for Namco.

I just posted in the Gamescom thread but I can also confirm damage in GT5. I busted up the whole front of my Impreza when I noticed damage was happening. I even lost a door. It also seemes like I took motor damage because I was going slower after the crashes.

hmm

finally some fucking cosmetic damage in an GT game.
