Hey dudes. What's happening. I started one of these a while ago and there wasn't much interest, but now that we're close to the season and considering the OMFG QB MEDIA MADNESS of the past five or so days I figured it would be worth taking another stab (thank you, RayRay) at this fantasy football thing.
Here's the thing tho- I am notoriously bitchy about how fantasy football is set up and scored. I find the default roster setting laaaaaame. Here is the set up I will now propose.
Starting roster:
QB
QB
RB
RB
WR
WR
WR
TE
IDP
IDP
IDP
IDP
IDP
Boom. Look at that elegant set up. Let me tell you why it rocks. First of all, you'll notice that we're starting two QBs. Yes. That is so. Why the fuck not, I ask you? Aren't QBs easily the most important players on the field? Why not emphasize that? So two QBs. The second thing you'll notice is that we don't have a starting team defense. That's because it's boring. Who wants to root for a team defense to do well when you can root for individual defensive players instead? I would rather root for Brian Urlacher to murder BritFarr, or Patrick Willis to get me 20 tackles. With the scoring system I'll outline in a second, linebackers tend to be of the most value so to counter that, I suggest we start 2 LBs, 2 DBs and one flex spot. The last thing you'll notice is the absence of the kicker. Fuck the kicker. This is fantasy football, where we celebrate everything that is good about football. The kicker is fucking lame, unless they are a liquored up Euro, and there's really no way to translate the amusement they generate into fantasy points. Believe me, I've tried.
Scoring:
Passing, Rushing, Receiving, Return TD = 6 pts
25 passing yards = 1 pt
10 rushing/receiving yards = 1 pt
reception = .5 pt
INT = -2 pts
Defensive TD = 6 pts
Solo tackle = 1 pt
assist tackle = .5 pt
sack = 3 pts
int = 4 pts
fumble forced = 1 pt
pass defended = 3 pts
The offensive stuff is pretty self-explanatory. Fuck people who want to only give 4 pts for a passing td. You're wankers. Now onto the defensive scoring values- I've bumped up the points on some stuff (ints, passes defended) because that gives us a reason to play dbs other than just that, you know, we have to. Really tho, we're all gonna end up drafting and playing middle linebackers and safeties that get a lot of tackles because that's where the points are.
The good thing about this is that we can have a competitive league with only 8 teams due to the roster requirements. Each team is gonna need a minimum of 3 qbs. I've already got maybe two other people interested, so if you want in pm me and if enough people do we'll talk about a draft time and date and I'll create the league and crap.
