rick baker got fucked over pretty badly by the filmmakers, and he's sort of a personal hero of mine, so i don't know how i feel about going to see this

also, the twist in this is just going to look so goddamned ridiculous

The only thing I heard he was upset about was that Johnston and Co. wanted to do the transformation with CG and not prosthetics and such. That's hardly being fucked over pretty badly.

from what i've read he was hired with the verbal promise that he'd be providing the transformation, put a lot of personal (unpaid) time into working out how to do it, and then at almost the very last minute they decided to go with cgi

here's a guy for which the special effects makeup artist academy award was created, i'd say it's a bit weaselly on the part of the producers

That doesn't sound that bad, actually. Hopkins is still pretty physically intimidating at his age, that doesn't worry me.

As for Baker, I highly doubt it was a decision made with malicious intent and I never heard he was fucked over. I heard he was upset, but he still is on the production and yada yada yada. I can understand why, and it sucks when you do something and the studio opts to go another way.

I heard a lot of his whole design was pretty much scrapped with the reshoots, though.

yeah, he and del toro wanted to stick with a design close to jack pierce's original, but were downvoted

also i read that the reshoots had a lot to do with having the beast on four legs because some of the people thought him running around on two legs looked weird, so it's probably going to end up looking like the dogthing from van helsing and every other horror movie werewolf from the last decade or so

when i read that i wondered why they even bothered to call this movie a wolfman remake, because apparently everyone working on it wants to distance themselves as much as possible from the original

i do want it to turn out good, though

the wolfman has been my favorite universal monster since childhood, i own a lot of wolfman-related collectibles

The trailer makes it suspicious, it's easy to think about the possibility of it. Then you read about a twist, and then about Anthony Hopkins being fit enough or not, and unless you are brain damaged and believe the twist being talked about is one that involves Anthony Hopkins turning into a super sayan, you pretty much know what it is.

I figured out the spoiler after reading Willco's post and seeing the trailer. Not that I really care. I imagine the movie probably telegraphs it halfway through anyhow.

I found it at HALLOWEEN TOWN (a Halloween themed store in Burbank that operates all year), no less. It's like, my favorite place in the world.

For awhile, my friend and I were convinced that it was owned by Rob Zombie. Even before he hit "mainstream", all his stuff and music videos were plastered over the store. The store has even moved to a bigger spot and - of course - has Halloween II crap all over.

After a lot of investigating, we found out it was owned by a couple and were disheartened. We were positive that something that sees almost no business eleven months out of the year, had to be kind of a pet project for a person that has a lot of disposable income.

I mean, you should see this place, Eel, there's a whole Halloween themed section that's setup like a haunted house and everything. And nobody buys anything there except shotglasses and a few costumes unless it's October.

But then we learned this year that the husband that owns the place has worked on every Rob Zombie production ever, as some kind of effects guy. We're pretty sure that Zombie is funding this thing through the couple now.

Yea the rumor right now is that Creature may just be titled "Creature". No, it's CREATURE FROM THE FUCKING BLACK LAGOON YOU distinguished mentally-challenged fellows.

And, ugh, the Creature musical at Universal is...sad. They gave him Predator-locks.
