what does "jew violence" mean, and if it just means "jews killing x" why does it need to be distinguished?

The only character the I liked was the drunk guy who got the autograph.  As far as "jew violence porn" goes, no one could feel good about the violence in this movie.  It was too realistic and too many innocent people died.

Yeah, some people are saying he shouldn't have used chapter titles again with this movie.  But that title is worth its weight in gold.  When it first comes up you're like wtf? then at the end of the chapter you're like  :pimp

Think of how much that chapter title added to the film.  Why would you take that enjoyment away from the people?

It didn't add that much. The title is funny, but the titles overall detracted and felt unnecessary.

Agreed that the chapters were unnecessary in this film, unlike in Kill Bill. IB had a relative compressed, linear timeline that didnt need to be fragmented.

Why is the decision to use chapter titles or reuse sound cues noteworthy :-\

Love things for what they are.

Was Elder Apache on a suicide mission?  I figured they were planning on leaving the dynamite.  The way bear jew and friend died ,however, has me confused.  Did they just get too into it and forgot the explosives around their legs?  Or was it just because of the dynamite Lans left under the chair after he presumably messed with the timer?

^I think they did leave their dynamite under their theater seats.  Possibly, that was the distraction they would need to get out after shooting hitler?

:rofl :rofl :rofl
Not one act of violence in this movie looked realistic?  The blood effects looked real, it dripped out like normal blood and nothing like Kill Bill's geysers.  Even the scalping, choking, and beating scenes all looked realistic.  The worst part of it was the sound of it all though.

It doesn't really matter how much audiences are desensitized to movie violence.  In a movie trying to portray fucking who knows what political messages and that's already getting the audience's attention with the tense conversation scenes, Tarantino made a stupid, conscious decision to make the violence look as realistic as possible.

Yes, he should have made it more like Kill Bill.  It still wouldn't have been that great but it would have been much better I think.

Pretty awesome movie, for me it ranks just behind Pulp Fiction for Tarantino.  I did find the usual QT stuff (chapters, music) kind of took away from what otherwise could have been his best work, but that's ok- it was still, as I said, pretty awesome.

Some thoughts about some of the surprises in the movie:
spoiler (click to show/hide)
Have to say that I wasn't expecting Shoshanna to bite it at the end there, or Hans to turn on the GNATSIES and cut a deal.  Did QT *really* need to kill all of the hot chicks in the flick?  Oh well.

First time I saw a packed cinema giving applause after a real movie in my life I think (not talking nerd jerk off Star Wars, Lotro). Real mature people giving applause. I was impressed.

Same thing happened both times I saw it, and, like you, it was the first time Id witnessed such an occurrance.

this movie was a lot better than i thought it would be. All the pre-release stuff; trailers, clips, images, they all made the movie look really hokey and dumb.
Thankfully the movie isn't anything like all that. I shouldn't really doubt Tarantino anymore.

I was really glad to find the only campy comedy stuff came from Pitt. I was worried the entire movie was going to be like that. He also really delivered. His character wasn't annoying, which I thought it would be.

I especially liked the first scene. Really tense stuff.    Christoph Waltz was so goddamn awesome all around in the flick.

Watched Inglorious Basterds again. It's even better the second time.

Right now, I'm feeling up to ranking all QT movies in terms of my personal preference:

1. Pulp Fiction
2. Inglorious Basterds
3. Jackie Brown
4. Death Proof
5. Kill Bill Vol. 2
6. Reservoir Dogs
7. Kill Bill Vol. 1

That's how I'm feeling after the second viewing. I feel that ultimately, it would have been even better without the chapters. I hear complaints about the music, but I personally liked the music. I just wish he put in a couple of orchestrated works in there to go with the setting, but I guess that would go against the nature of the film as it is not a serious WWII movie in the least.

It's probably the best film he's made; the conversations are about actual things rather than pop culture, and the tension he's known for is it as its best in this film; the typical Tarantino slow burn is in full effect. The bar scene and the intro scenes in particular are the movie's shining moments for me. I heart the intro so so much.

I can't be the only one who squirms at the final scene, am I?

I especially love how, after letting it sink in for a bit, how this movie is essentially everything Tarantino took from Death Proof and implemented into a war movie. Death Proof was prototype Inglorious Basterds.

Death Proof is awesome when viewed on it's own.  In a rowdy theater at the second half of a 3 hour double feature where the first flick was a cheesy, crowd pleasing zombie flick was the total WRONG place for it.

Another thing- while Jackie Brown is good and shit, I don't really think it's THAT MUCH better than Reservoir Dogs, and obviously I didn't rate it higher than DP.  I mean, it's good but not THAT good.  I don't get the infatuation with it, other than of course Bridget Fonda playing a slut and all.

It's got some fantastic performances, and one of my favorite DeNiro roles of all-time. It's also the most focused of Tarantino's films, and the criticism that followed resulted in Kill Bill.

Don't hate Jackie Brown, hate the people that hated it.

I really enjoyed Kill Bill for what it was: pure popcorn pleaser. I think it's a far better popcorn pleaser than other movies this decade. It's mindless, but it's so damn fun I forgive it.

3. Kill Bill (p.1&2 together)

I still haven't see Jackie Brown so I can't rank it.  Death Proof is low only because I went into it expecting a totally different movie and Inglorious Bastards is dumb fun (to me) but that's it really.

13. The shit he wrote for Natural Born Killers
WRT Natural Born Killers, Tarantino said that the final movie was so different than his script that he didn't want to be in the credits.
