IB was just too ridiculous.  You can't make a movie that's both about the Nazi propoganda campaign and about the bear jew.  You have to choose one or the other.

I can totally see (and appreciate) all the attention and effort that Tarantino put in the script but it's a fucking distinguished mentally-challenged concept so hey, different strokes.

What?

I dont think even if I could explain it you would understand how deep this goes, ww2, nazis, everything. The only comparison that I can think of is racism against blacks in the US.
And this (IG) all just show the banality and humanity of it all, the nazis sitting in the pub playing pub games like regular folk. It may be a comedy but its starting to trivialize all the pain which is somehow nice and scary at the same time.
:sarcastic jerkoff emote

You could make a great movie about Nazi propoganda and it's effects on Germans and maybe on how it affected future films.  You could also of course make a great movie about how Nazi soldiers were basically humans.  To combine those ideas with the wonder that is the bear jew does not work though.  Tarantino took every emotion he could feel towards Nazis and warfare, blending them together, and jacked off into it.  That was Inglorious Bastards for me, a fundamentally flawed movie.

Finally saw this last night. A solid 8/10, but Tarantino is still too much in love with his own writing, continuing the problem that started in Death Proof.

Best part was the guys pretending to be Italian.  :lol :lol

What problem that started in Death Proof? Kill Bill movies aside, Tarantino movies have ALWAYS been about the dialogue. You've never seen a Tarantino movie before have you?

I think that he means that his movies are more about the characters than the stories, sometimes it makes it a better movie and sometimes it does not.

I had the opposite feeling about the characters.  I thought he was trying to make it more like a comic book, like Kill Bill, rather than normal dialogue.  I never got the big obsession critics had with Tarantino's character dialogue but I thought that Reservoir Dogs had the best relative to the other movies.

5) True Romance (counting this as his. It would have been #2 a few years ago, but I can't abide the racism

Are you talking about the sequence with Dennis Hopper confronting Christopher Walken, or some other part? That sequence is the only racist dialogue I can remember offhand, and it's clearly not promoting racism as a positive thing.

Since everyone here since to be rating QT movies I'm gonna do it too.

1- Reservoir Dogs
2- Pulp Fiction
3- Kill Bill
4- Inglorious Basterds
5- Jackie Brown
6- Deathproof

How is Kill Bill Volume 1 better than 2? It's rare your see such an opinion and I'm curious why you hold it. Not saying you're "wrong" or that I disagree, I'm just wondering why you think there's such a quality difference between the two when most Kill Bill fans seem to place 2 above 1, while still enjoying 1 for what it is.

I think the one comparing Sicilians to distinguished black fellows is what he's talking about. Being 1/2 Italian (not Sicilian tho) that scene gave me a bit of a laugh.

True Romance is one of my favorite movies ever, and one of my favorite classic trance songs sampled it:

This finally opened in Japan (well a week or two ago) and I saw it tonight. Holy. Shit. I loved every minute of it. The sustained intensity of the film is right up there with Pulp Fiction; I spent the entire movie wondering when things were going to turn to utter shit for the characters. And it usually did.

The main Nazi character, Hans "The Jew Hunter" Landa was fantastic. Did that guy get an Oscar? Pitt was surprisingly good, but I kept getting distracted by the Temp Guy from The Office showing up at his side.

Also, best use of Bowie's "Cat People" ever. Ever.

I put my order in for the Future Shop Steelbook edition this week. I probably won't watch it right away as it's still fresh in my mind from opening day of the theatrical release.

As for ranking his movies, well I think this Kill Bill quote sums up my feelings: "If you're gonna compare a Hanzo sword, you compare it to every other sword ever made... that wasn't made by Hattori Hanzo."

She's French, and taking it bent over just as most of France was taking it bent over during that period. The shot was to denote difference in the way that this French translator had adapted her lifestyle, as opposed to Shoshannah who was maintaining her dignity.

Yeah but atleast IMHO it feels like they threw it in just to say "lol we have a sex scene". It's out of place, breaks the tension in that scene, and stupid. You could tell just by looking at her that she was pretty much a new german, I didn't need to see some fuckold movie director dogg her to get the point across.

Why? Because I have a opinion on what I feel is a useless sex scene? I love the movie otherwise, just, did they really have to show it? Didn't shusannah's face alone  dictate that she thought that was happening anyways? I know it's sacriligieous but that type of writing is Dexter level.  It's sloppy filmmaking and screenwriting.

Movie comes out tommorow, I really wish the special edition would come out here.

It's not even a sex "scene."  There's like two or three seconds of a woman getting done from behind in the cafe scene.  Shows how the French translator chick has opted to just get f'd in the a instead of keeping her dignity.  It's meant to be humorous.  There's also no nudity or anything shown below the neck.
