Dropped a month or so ago and I'm still not sick of the joint.

Love the contrast between WSG and Conway's voice on their duo tracks.

You know when you hear a Mase verse, and you think "damn I miss real hip hop", you're in a dark time.

Been listening to Boot Camp Click shit past couple weeks. Heltah Skeltah. Smiff and Wesson, Buckshot, Black Sheep etc. They were like the Bellator of the era. Scrappy, but just not good enough. Joey Badass kinda lifted his whole thing from a certain era of BCC/Duck Down.

His unreleased That's Sexy featuring Andre 3000 is one of my fav unreleased tracks.

Enjoyed what he did with Kamaal the Abstract as well, though I haven't heard what changes he made (if any) to the official release many years later. Criminal they didn't use the sampler art for the final release, was so much more suited to the vibe.

I love Wu... but that album is not amazing.

It feels really phoned in and I hate how there’s like 1 track with more than two Wu members.

I got a good friend who likes it too though, so maybe it’s just me.

Surprised I hadn't discovered before Charizma and Peanut Butter Wolf's record. It's that early 90s upbeat hip-hop sound, with a couple mellow tracks thrown in. Apparently Charizma was sadly murdered after recording the record in 93 and it didn't see a release until ten years later.

All I know is the same people that Stan for Migos on gafera also stanned for Desiigner.

I’m just really sick of triplets. It’s fine for emphasis or a change of pace, but as a style... pass. The lyrics just end up so simplistic to fit everything into 3 beat bars. It’s why Migos lyrics are pure and utter trash. Like I feel like there are some good ideas for bars in there sometimes, but it’s lost on the fact that it sounds like they are illiterate, and I don’t mean in that “hurt durr, Black people don’t speak right” kind of way, but that they just straight up omit words to fit bars into a triplet scheme. As a result it’s just like barely connected sentence fragments, and I hate it.

Actually, I think, and it pains me to say this, but that Bodack Yellow chick actually has the best verse on the song.

Like this verse. It just sucks. Like it’s kind of got some good ideas. The Andy Milonakis punch line is sort of clever. But I don’t get what the Klay thompson reference or the pool reference has to do with anything. It’s just a collection of random lines.

I know there’s more to the verse, but it just doesn’t go anywhere. It’s just random, unconnected punch lines with really weak cocaine metaphors. It’s like what my mom thinks rap music sounds like.

I know triplets have been around forever, but it’s just overused now. And frankly 36 Mafia did it better, IMO. The problem isn’t that triplets exist, it’s that they are in every third song, and that Migos has managed to marry up triplets with the lyrical skill of Oj da Juiceman.

Something about Migos just triggers me, they’re like the Lil Jon or St Lunatiks of 2017. A garbage group that everybody thinks is not garbage for some reason.

It’s just pop music about cocaine for teenage boys.

Exactly. I have no idea why you're seriously analyzing Migos lyrics. They just make club bangers/stripper anthems that only need to sound good and have a catchy hook. And they're great at it.
