It's funny, for how much I've said the list doesn't matter...I sure have talked a lot about it over the last few years. Honestly I do agree with the general gist of the list this year; it's not about who is best or who makes the best music, it's simply who is on top right now. I'm not going to deny 2Chainz had a huge year for instance.

I'm a big Nas fan, liked his album, and really liked the various guest verses he did last year...but I'll readily admit he shouldn't be so high on that list, especially above Drake.

at that level though, i don't think it really matters who places where. I think that on a rising stars list, placement is more important but here it's "people who had successful years last year" when months ago, we know because of fucking year end lists.

That's true, it's largely a wank fest. I feel an up and coming list could easily be quite manufactured as well though. You're going to have Trinidad James and others folks on there who are basically record label creations. IE it could look like XXL's Freshmen of the Year list.

i dunno if you all need another hip hop interview podcast in your life, but i've found this one to be fairly interesting thus far. unfortunately there's been a bit of guest sharing between this and Shots Fired but as they move in the same circles, it's not that surprising. However the interviews are decidedly different on Kinda Interesting. The host is routinely able to get artists to open up a bit. The two hour Cadalack Ron interview is particularly interesting because that dude had one crazy story. Glad i never got into opiates.
