That's the song with that SZA part from 90059 right? Her part is wavy as fuck...she really has melody on lock. I'll probably wait for the album before listening.

which is kinda funny since no one gave a shit about miguel until he grew a beard, became more explicit and ditched all the neo soul vibe for something much hazier/floatier

Saw that on the Coli. Pretty funny. What's the origin of this beef outside of Houston shit? Has Drake directly ripped off him?

That track also highlights how bad Meek lost. All he had to do was give people a couple memorable lines over a decent beat. His fans would say he won, Drake fans would say Drake won, everyone else would be entertained and we'd move on.

Very excited.  Nehru Jackets, the last one they did together, is one of my favorite mixtapes of this decade so far.  It's political, fun, humorous, and the beats SLAP.  I'd be surprised if they top it, but I'm glad they doing another project together.

It's surprising that Mike Finito doesn't work with more rappers.

reddit's hip hop sub seems decent but I agree. Usually online stuff is dominated by stans.

What should we discuss bro. In down for multi paragraph discussions any day. No Thugger talk tho.

if you're talking about 'r/hipopheads' i got banned from there years ago for suggesting talib wasn't jesus incarnate

im not really up for multiparagraph debates on rap tbh, in my mind theres a perfect place where people post shit they think is dope and explain why they think it's dope

Lets discuss Thugger's irrelevance and his place as solely an internet presence with no actual fanbase, hence his album sales and cancelled tour. Another ATL export who will disappear the minute something newer and louder is introduced from that market.

I haven't listened to a lot of new stuff lately. I like Apollo Brown's new album but at this point it's clear he'll never develop as a producer. His sample chops are almost always the exact same, as are his drums. I'm a fan so the tracks still knock to me, but the repetitive nature cannot be denied. It's far more comical than 9th Wonder's corny ass Fruity Loops drums. At least 9th has introduced some new stuff to his sound...

I guess if you measure relevance by sales that's a fair point but who cares about that stuff. You can go ahead and deny that he's easily the most influential rapper of the the last three years or so, but at this point everyone has done some version of a thug impression

I will say Thugger>>>Future. I don't get Future. Just mumbling over repetitive beats with little melody. At least I can name Young Thug songs I like whereas honestly the only Future song I really really like is Commas.

I used to really dislike Future but man did DS2 ever win me over. Still think the GOAT Future song is Codeine Crazy but DS2 has too many bangers to count.
I'm not as well versed in Young Thug's catalogue but I like what I've heard. I feel like saying "his highs are high and lows are lower" could apply to either of them based on your perspective lol
"Maria I'm Drunk" is a top 5 song of the year for me though

I guess Scott is a good producer, but there are too many rumors about him stealing beats n' shit for me to believe that here's no truth to it. His popularity right now is annoying.

I get why he's big but it is frustrating to see such a blatant label push actually work, especially for a dude this bland. I listened to the album and it comes across as a pretty cynical distillation of what rap is 'supposed' to sound like in 2015. It's like a vehicle for features, and he seems like he has no real identity other than being a moody dickhead who treats people like shit at his live shows. We really do live in a post-Ross-was-a-cop era, cuz a decade ago the FatBeats crowd would have been screaming 'industry plant' from the rooftops
