sounds like it misses on what makes TPAB brilliant lyrically/conceptually: it is not a list of demands or a list of solutions, in fact there are no solutions. It's someone speaking from within a community, sharing the same problems and insecurities. Not someone observing a struggle from the outside.

IMO this is also what separates Kendrick from say...Lupe. Lupe has been preaching and pedantic for quite some time and has lost that Nas-like "project window" introspection he once had, replacing it with the lectures of an elder.

Yea it's a great album. But that was him solo, whereas this being a group effort after a tragedy had me fearing it was gonna be some bullshit cash grab.

worth it though he did play all his songs in the end
after the longest rant he played runaway which was hilarious

I will say that I disagree with them being garbage though. We Got It 4 Cheap 1 and 2 are classics. I listened to the albums a lot, and I like a bunch of cuts from them, but Pharrell's production is kinda grating to me now
