Replaced my modem and now my router won't work?
« on: August 28, 2009, 06:13:32 PM »
It was working fine with the old one.  Do I need to change any of the router settings to work with the new modem.  What could be causing this?

Does it work when you have the connection wired directly from the modem to your computer? If not, you probably just need to call your ISP and give them the new MAC address on the modem. It's a 12 digit number.

Ya the modem works directly to the computer just not when there is a router in between.  Thanks.  I'll try calling them tomorrow.

I had this problem before, I think it ended up fixing itself after the I had the router and modem hooked up for a day or so.

I hate wireless networking so much.  A couple of days of swearing should rectify the problem.

I agree.  I went with cheap routers for a while until I got sick of the issues and purchase a more expensive one.  Never had any network problems since.  I've found that price is a good indicator of quality when it comes to wireless routers.
