World's most successful Beatles cover band breaks up
« on: August 28, 2009, 11:43:58 PM »
Quote
Noel Gallagher, the lead guitarist of the British rock band Oasis, says he’s leaving the band because he can’t work “a day longer” with his brother Liam, The Associated Press reported. A statement from Noel Gallagher, left, on the band’s Web site (oasisinet.com) says he is leaving the group, which was formed in 1991, “with some sadness and great relief.” Oasis was scheduled to play a festival in Paris on Friday but did not appear onstage.

Love the thread title.  I thought they broke up years ago.

Rofl, yeah, I saw the news on /mu/ about 5 hours ago and didn't even bother posting it because, you know, it's Oasis.

+1 for the thread title

The idea for the thread title comes from a DCharlie post from about a year ago.

Saw them last year at V Fest where Noel got tackled by the renegade Blur fan (:teehee) and once before that. Put on a good show both times, but I expected this long ago.

Their East of Eden song was good and their old stuff was good, so I can't join in the negative laughing.

Who?

Oasis. They put out a couple of decent albums in the mid 90s, then--to the best of my knowledge--stopped releasing new music.

I think the song used in the anime East of Eden recently was from a new (and good) single?  I grabbed the single and it had a The Prodigy remix which was pretty cool.

saw the headline and was surprised they were still together.  I'm surprised the brothers hadn't killed each other by now.

I think they were touring Japan a few months ago. They all looked tired on their TV appearances. More like tired of each other, I guess.

Even when they first got popular, all the stories were about how they'd fight on stage and stuff.  :lol

They had an album come out last year.  It was awful.
