I grew up with it - the first album I ever listened to was a Greatest Hits cassette my mum had lying around. I feel so very very old.

I did sort of get into the Beatles when the Anthology aired on ABC. But all of my peers said they were lame, so I went back to listening to the Pumpkins and Nirvana. (My peers rejected me anyway  :'().

My parents would play lots of Motown, jazz, and gospel when I was young. My dad played some hip hop stuff (mainly Big Daddy Kane/Juice Crew stuff) as well as some rock, but not the Beatles; he's a big fan of The Police and Springsteen, for instance. I heard Beatles songs on the radio, and growing up I heard a good deal of their popular staples of classic rock stations; plus we had a copy of Yellow Submarine on vhs which I liked. But overall I can't say I was very knowledgeable of their overall work. Everyone has heard Little Help From My Friends, Come Together, Eleanor Rigby, Getting Better, Blackbird, etc. I just wasn't familiar with their albums overall.

When I got into classic rock I focused on Zeppelin, Sabbath, and Hendrix.

I don't think I have never heard a whole Beatles song. Except Imagine but that's just John Lennon. And that awful Christmas song but that's just Paul McCartney.

fuck you for bringing that awful synthesizer riff back into my mind  :lol :'(

Sabbath. :yuck

My father gave me his vinyls when I was a kid, so I had some Beatles stuff. I dig the band, but I do not think they were touched by the hand of God or anything.

... Evilboris, not a big fan of Magical Mystery Tour. I know it's kind of a companion piece to Sgt. Pepper, but it never clicked with me. Same with A Hard Day's Night.

Besides, I just spent like, what, $70 on a group and half their members are dead? The other half are stinkin' rich. EMI should be giving away this crap!

God how did I forget - I was a big Pink Floyd as well. Still am actually, they were one of the first rock bands I really liked.

And I liked Cream but never really explored their albums, whereas I listened to all of Hendrix's stuff on vinyl in the library :rock

Help isn't that much worse than Rubber Soul. The songs are still all about romantic love and the bass is nearly inaudible, but the songs are fantastic.*

Lennon was a cock, but he was a better song writer than McCartney. Hell, Harrison's best songs are about as good Paul's best.

Paul was a better musician, had better pop sense, and had more vocal range. Lennon and McCartney complemented each other.

George has always been my personal favorite.  John and Paul might've been a better team, but George had songs that just felt more personal.  Here Comes the Sun, I Me Mine, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Something, Long Long Long...awesome songs.

Indeed.  George is probably my favorite.  Paul has the most talent, I feel.  Agree with what others say about John.  Ringo was goofy which helped some of the songs he sang go from crap to funny.

Lennon was a cock, but he was a better song writer than McCartney. Hell, Harrison's best songs are about as good Paul's best.

NEW YORK (Reuters Life!) - Paul McCartney topped a poll of Americans' favorite Beatles. . . . Nearly 30 percent of Americans questioned in the poll selected McCartney, compared to 16 percent who chose John Lennon, 10 percent for George Harrison and 9 percent for Ringo Starr.

America wrong again?

Quote
Zogby International, one of the more preminent political pollsters, has conducted an extensive poll on the Beatles and Beatlemania among the American public.

Fewer liberals (9%) and Democrats (14%) didn't like the Beatles than Republicans and conservatives (30% each) who didn't.

Drinky and Cohen are closet Republicans confirmed.

He kinda was, but he was also really funny.  Watch the Dick Cavett interviews.  He's hilarious in a hyper-obnoxious way.  It also shows how much of a dick he was.

Instant Karma is still the best post-Beatles song by a Beatle.

Paul consistently contributed the worst song to Beatle albums (save for Beatles for Sale, the worst song being a cover of John's choosing, and Let It Be, which is pretty consistent in spite of it being one of their lesser albums and doesn't have a stand-out bad track... okay, and Help!, the worst song on which is also a cover), therefore he is the worst Beatle.

Nope.  Pretty sure Paul was sleeping until Say Say Say.  Michael Jackson saved him from retirement, made one fun song and one kinda dull one, and then he went back to sleep.

Odd logic. George only had to was only allowed to contribute one or two songs an album, and Ringo wrote like one song by himself. Thus, either Paul or John will end up with the most stinkers.

I hate Paul because of his saccharine rubbish. John would've been cool if he wasn't such an arsehole to his own family- I'd actually give the guy kudos for being this new age Jesus publicly and this rampant Ayn Randian materialist in private. Ringo is boring- but he narrated Thomas the Tank! George is a hippie tho.

I guess I'll go with John he has some admirable traits.
