How is Muramasa?
I think it might be out today or tomorrow, was thinking about picking it up after hearing people compare it to post-SOTN Castlevania games.
It's not like post-SOTN games. Throw that right out. The game is very similar to Odin Sphere in structure, in that you run around an endless loop of the same few backgrounds over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. There's more variety this time, and even some *gasp* jumps here and there, but the game is largely just running in one direction, killing some enemies in encounters, getting to the end of the map/boss, then running back the other direction again, often with no enemies to fight. I don't think the game sucks, and it turns out I played the bulk of it on the easier mode (thought it was the other way around), but even the harder mode doesn't really do anything to make up for all the game's shortcomings. The two main characters also play exactly the same, and most of the swords are all clones of each other, too.
Basically, no one would give two shits about Muramasa if it didn't look as good as it does. Its visuals are what it really has going for it. The art is amazing, but underneath that you have an average game at best. I've been struggling to bring myself to finish it up.
