I signed up for a free month at gamefly through the ECA (got it for the amazon 10% mainly).  I don't have a lot of time to play games, especially if they are not in HD.  Plus I'll be buying and playing the BIG quality games like Beatles/ODST/Brutal Legend/Uncharted 2 which will take up some weeks.  So I want to stick to single player X360/PS3 NON-RPG games that I can blow through in a week (like Batman).

First game I'm getting is Bionic Commando PS3 cause I want to play it in case it really is good, but I missed the $20 sale at B&M gamestop and it's back to like $36-40 online everywhere.  If it's great maybe I'll buy it down the line when it's $20 everywhere.

2nd game I'm thinking about Red Faction cause I never bought that and you guys seemed to dig it?  How is the PS3 version compared to the X360 one?  Would rather not turn on my X360 if I don't have to.  I only played the PS3 demo and graphically it seemed fine, though I didn't enjoy the gameplay (hence why I never bought it)

After that I have no idea:
-Prototype?  PS3/X360?  I was figuring it'd be the kind of game to just get on PC when it's $5 on a steam sale
-Wolflenstein?  Would get it on X360 cause I prefer the controller for FPS.  But then again I have a PC hmm....
-Guitar Hero 5?  Lol, any point?  I hated world tour and didn't even bother finishing it and sold it.  Plus RB Beatles next week
-KoFXII PS3?  Just for shits and giggles to try it cause I ain't payin for it
-Mortal Kombat vs. DC?  My friend has been bugging me to get this so he can try it, but I hate 3d MK.  Any big system differences?  Otherwise I'll just get it on PS3 for the controller
-Overlord II X360?  Never played the first one beyond the demo, my only problem is it seems like a long slow game and those aren't the kind I want from gamefly cause I want stuff I can send back within a week even with my busy school/gf schedule.
Any others?

None of those games you can really beat quickly. And you won't get any of them within the month :lol

I thought Bionic was like 6-10 hours, the fighting games are just for 1 session of local vs., Red Faction 2/Prototype/Wolfenstein/Overlord 2 are all long?  I beat Batman in a week and I'd say it was a good 15-20 hours for 100% riddler + main game + challenges cleared.

And gamefly is that slow?  It said all those games outside Wolfenstein were on HIGH availability with Wolfenstein on MEDIUM

Demi, what is the trick you use to get new releases within the first week or two?  Do you just keep it at #1 spot on your queue?

Have an empty slot and have the game you want at the top of your queue right before release.  You are virtually guaranteed to get that game.  The only downside is if you miss it when it first releases, it will be several months before you will have a chance at it again.

I dont do anything special, actually. I just sort my games by date, and if it comes, it comes. The people who post that are nothing but FUD. I got Wolfenstein just fine day-of, and I got several others.

It helps that majority if not all of my games aren't released yet, so yeah the same would apply.

i had wolfenstein sitting in my q for over a month before release and didn't get it

on the other hand, i got batman a few days after release

so it's hit or miss, but you do want to have unreleased games sitting in your q

remove every game off your Q besides the one that releasing
return your last game at least a week before release date.
wait.

it helps having ps3/360 because you can put both up there and double your chances. basically there's a window right as it's released where it is available. since you have a slot open, they send you the new release 80% of the time.

the last time it didn't work for me was.... uh.... i really can't remember honestly.

I hear Wanted: Weapons of Fate is crazy short.

I may be one the few people around here that actually liked it, but Viking is definitely worth a rent.  It does get pretty repetitive but some of the bigger set piece battles are something to see.
