Saw a bit of it and it all feels very superficial, like it'd get boring very quickly similar to the first one.

Or the levels were designed that you had to fight your way out no matter what. There were very few levels where you could make a stealthy kill and get away with it

I was fond of the fighting even though it qualifies as "auto-combat" by some here. What I didn't like was the careful planned approach would still result in the same OMG RUN AWAY fleeing sequence after every mission. I wanted some get in, get out quiet stuff like HITMAN.

I think it looks incredible.  It's everything good about Assassin's Creed 1 + new stuff that seems great - everything bad about AC1 (+those dull looking glider sequences).

Other than those glider sequences, everything looks super great.  Assassinations seem a lot more creative now.  In one of the videos, you can drug a target's body guard and cause them to attack anyone near them like a lunatic; you can even throw gold on the floor near them and get the filthy poors to get caught in the frenzy.  In another part, he hired goons to fight guards, then just walked past that entire battle.  Well, the linear platforming sections, which were compared to PoP, could be great, but who knows.

Florins is currency, you can buy upgrades in this game I think, I doubt thats a lot

it's a lot more simple now.  All you do now is rub up against anyone and you can rob them.  The main character (Ezio?) was a thief first, so they are apparently putting focus on the abilities that come with that.

The feathers are just one achievement (30 points).  You can even see how many you have left in each city and each district apparently.

It has collectibles, but it's not any worse than basically any other sandbox game.

It still has plenty of collection, though. Aside from the blatant stuff like the feathers and statuettes, ff you haven't already done so, you have to at one point trek through the cities again before you can even progress the story forward.

I really liked the game, but I don't think they really fixed all that much, they just gave the main story a stronger direction.

haha, yeah it definitely has collecting. You cant even beat the game until you complete the game's Triforce quest aka Codex

Well I just finished DNA sequence 9 so I still have a bit to go before the codex hunt I guess.  In my own experience, getting those pages is really easy though.  Especially if you just pay some thieves or courtesans to distract the guards.

And I made that comment before the game even came out.  Just don't do the collectathons if you don't feel like it, the sequel has real side-missions so just do a bunch of tombs and contracts.

In the first game, the only reason the collectathons were annoying was because it was the ONLY thing you could do outside of the main game.  But that's not a problem this time and the amount of collectibles in this pales in comparison to pretty much every sandbox game with cars.

yeah, I don't even know why this has to be defended though.  You  have to pick up a few codex things in plain sight and you can occasionally run over a feather or two when doing actual, FUN side-missions.  It's not like the last game where they basically gave you a sandbox and no toys and the only replay value was finding a needle in a haystack.  There's an actual real game this time, with thirty points of masochistic completionist bs  added onif you really really give a dookie.

How so? The missions are largely the same, save for the odd novelty mission (like the flying machine). You follow some dude, you fight a bit, you kill some dude. Escape or kill everyone in sight, and then repeat. The real change is that the side missions have stronger hooks, and that that there is a bit more variety to the combat. Oh yeah, and you can also travel faster. The main stuff hasn't changed much.

The main game was already well done.  It just would be over in 6 hours.  As you said, it's the side-missions that mostly make this game better than the first one.
