I just hope they go back and play Genesis Sonic games to realize why people liked them so much. Not all people thought they were great because they fast, ya know!
Things I want in the new Sonic game:
- Momentum based platforming. I resent the "Sonic is speed" stuff Sega uses all the time, and in this game I want a return to physics and momentum. If I'm trying to go through a big loop, I shouldn't be able to go through it while running at 5 miles per hour. I should have to go to high ground, spin to gain momentum in order to go through that loop.
- Multiple difficulty modes, for replay value.
- Modern features such as leaderboards, challenge modes.
- Hard hitting level design and platforming. I want to die in this game.
- ONLY Sonic (playable), Tails (playable), Knuckles (playable), Amy Rose (playable), Metal Sonic (villain) and Robotinik (villain). No Big the Cat, or whatever the hell else.
- Likewise, what makes Sonic 3 and Knuckles, to
me, the best traditional platformer of the 16 bit era alongside Yoshi's Island is that the game features so many levels, and yet so many styles of play and the game is designed around all of them. You can play as Sonic, Tails or Knuckles and the game is designed so that it's fun to play with all three. Do this with the new Sonic; don't just design the game around Sonic and include 3 extra playable characters.
- Zero realistic or real life based levels. I want a return to the fantastical:

- Non-linear game format. I want to be able to play any level in any order at any time, except the final level like in Mega Man.
- Reinvention of Sonic game boss fights. Hitting Robotnik 8 times is incredibly basic. More Metal Sonic ala Sonic 2 boss fights please.
So basically, I'd really like some oldschool Sonic conventions while at the same time new stuff to modernize them.
