Don't know where the conversation is headed, but I'll add that it took roughly 5 hours on Normal for me.

I was fine with it being short.  I'll replay it one afternoon when I'm really lazy.  What KZ2 gets right is the satisfaction of firing off a powerful weapon;  Black did was like that too.  The AI was also great in a lot of situations.  I said earlier that the style of shooter isn't my favorite, but I had a lot of fun just massacring space nazi with killing tools.  Even just the way the enemies reacted to the bullets was awesome.  Though, I do kinda wish enemies took less shots to take down.

Average and generic is Timeshift

I thought Timeshift was a great game and a breath of fresh air in the genre.  That is all.

Can't tell if your sarcastic or not, but not too long ago I played the Timeshift demo on PC and it was pretty fun.  I thought about getting it if I could find it cheap.

Now, Turok is average and generic.

edit:  didn't notice the original post mentioned Turok

while you are at best buy, you can get free copies of X-Blades for 360 if you are a Rewards member. There's a coupon you print out. Just walk in and you can get up to 3 at once.

That's pretty cool if Gamestop would give at least $2 per copy.  Too bad my local BB probably doesn't have any copies left.  It seems to be a real popular location for slickdealers.

Actually I meant Area51.  Was thinking they were the same game, but then remembered the demos just came out around the same time.

that being said I guess you could say that games like Timeshift, Riddick, Bioshock, Condemned, are innovative and non-generic FPS games because they take the genre and try to do something besides just run and shoot people (sometimes with cover & grenades).  But I think there is still a place for FPS games where you do that.

No, I'm being serious.  I actually didn't get a great impression of the game from the 360 demo, but was given the game as a gift and really enjoyed it.  I suspect because of Timeshift's protracted development cycle reviewers let their expectations dictate what they thought of the game.

Turok is indeed trash.  I suspect we'll never find anyone to dispute that.

I never played Turok beyond the demo, but what I played felt really old. now, I'm known for liking an old school shooter from time to time, but this felt more like it was picked from a pile of old, discarded ideas.

The cool thing about Timeshift was that they took something played out like bullet time in games and made it crazy.  Shooting up an enemy while he's frozen, then returning time to normal as he finally feels the impact of all the shots is pretty cool.  I'm kinda a sucker for that stuff.  I think I'm also the only person on the planet who is looking forward to Singularity.

Is Singularity still coming out? I had a hard time telling it apart from Wolfenstein, after they started showing off the more spaced out aspects of Wolfie.

I think it's 2010 now.  They've been showing some walkthroughs on gametrailers showing off different aspects of the game.  It's a total Bioshock clone...but with time.

Yeah, it looks pretty cool. I just don't have much confidence in Activision releasing it, especially after Wolfenstein. We'll see, I'll definitely give it a shot when/if it comes out.

I totally forgot about Singularity, I must check it out.

I also liked the look of Timeshift - it was colourful without being garish.  I remember lights in some areas throwing some crazy-awesome shadows as well.  I should finish that game, I think I'm most of the way through.

wow, first time I've seen a store just giving a game up for free.  they're admitting complete defeat and hoping that some candy gets upsold, I guess. lol
