- Web 2.0 and its tendency to have logos, menus, etc. in lower case.

- Tattoos on women - I'll second Malek's notion.  Not sure who should take the blame for that one but seriously  :-\

- Everyone's getting diagnosed with autism or asperger's these days.

- Apple

The positives:

+ Emo is fading out.  Wearing girl jeans and writing about how much in pain you are is no longer in vogue.

+ Gonzo porn is fading out.  When I watch it, I want the dudes, especially the camera men, to shut the fuck up.  I suspect this coincides with the downfall of Bangbros.

+ Blogs are fading out.  They're still around but unless you're important or semi famous, nobody reads them.  Many bloggers get the hint and either moved to MySpace or Facebook.  You could argue that Twitter is the blog successor but with its character limit, the death of 10,000 word blogs about how the world is too fascist to understand them is sealed.

Nice to see I'm not the only one who doesn't like tattoos on women...

Let's see:
-Ed Hardy and Affliction t-shirts (screams "guido")
-UFC fans (most of the people around the island who are into it just take up MMA in order to start shit in the clubs, I know there are some cool UFC fans on EB like pilonv1 and Boogie, they are the exception)
-iPhone (overpriced as fuck, like anything Apple, its owners have to CONSTANTLY remind everyone they have an EYE-PHOOOOONE)
-Trolling universal healthcare 24/7 (give it up, you guys got your ass handed to you in the '08 election, now STFU)
-Bald Space Marine/WWII games  :usacry

What in the hell is gonzo porn? Also, I agree with TA's modern porn complaint. Not sure what ever made gagging and choking mainstream, but I'm thinking it has to do with angry nerds and other oft-rejected types.

Gonzo porn is where the cameraman interacts in the porn scene in some fashion.  What this usually means is that the guy won't shut the fuck up, often providing shitty commentary during the video.  This was pretty common in the peak of the Bangbros days (2002-2006?  PD would know) to make it seem more realistic.  It seemed to work because I remember people on the internet wondering if the Bangbus was real or not.

Tiny's Big Adventures had a chick doing the gonzo reporting, and it was uber hot. I always wanted to see what she looked like. Then in one vid she exposed herself by licking the porn chick's tits....and I realized she was kinda ugly  :'(

I think what bothers me the most is most the ones around here that have them neededd to retire them long ago, but didn't. Nothing worse than seeing some dirty hefty man or woman wearing a pair of used-to-be-white Crocs that have turned a lovely golen shade of footsweat and dirt from their bare feet.

yep.  the plans though...it's pretty hefty each month. $84 after taxes, with the minimum text plan (200 texts a month.)  It sucks...but it's worth it, but I do wish it was cheaper.  In a couple years, hopefully its features won't be considered premium.

The progression of social quality on the net is much like the progression of networking sites, even if social quality fell to pieces long before network sites showed up.

My first networking site was LJ, which is just a community blogging site, and blogging an extension of networking.  I still don't have a problem as much with LJ/blogs. There is plenty of meaningless banter and clucking, but there is actually people talking, thinking and sharing. Friendster hit, and it was a little successful, but only seemingly with certain groups. Then comes along myspace, and it is exactly like friendster but with poorer coding and systems that fail all the time.  Yet, it catches on, seemingly for being able to spam pictures and geocities-esque page designs and glitter. The website still retains some social commuication, with a journal/blog area and page comments.

Following myspace, was facebook, which had been mostly college networking but had opened up beyond that.  Gone completely now are blogging and social communication, and in replace are the pictures and 'apps'. App spamming beats out picture spamming. And comment spamming is easier than ever.

Now we have twitter, which is like the internet for dumb celebs. With its word limit, the banter remains but it might as well be grunting and slapping.  Despite facebook's near void of social communication, twitter manages to go even lower while being text based.  Twitter actually returns communication to pre-language days. (Which, honestly I see in a lot of public social interaction)

So social networks become more shallow and less intimate. Which is part of a greater social trend towards the downfall of human communication. Too may people are full of talk without ever saying anything. It sounds like a bunch of noise for the sake of noise, sound for fear of silence. A bunch of jive  and catchphrase.

FB seems to have dialed back all the random app bullshit. It may not be gone but the most recent UI change seems to have filed most of that away to where it isn't in your face. At least I'm not getting bit by a zombie from some a-hole who I regret allowing to be my friend anymore

I started facebook about 6 months ago.  First couple weeks were like "wow, why didn't I do this earlier!" and then I realized there's nothing I want to use the site for, aside from getting event invitations, since I don't always see people in my circles to hear about stuff.
