Its funny because I don't think the much lauded "eastern/western character specific shit" even made it into the final version of Last Remnant.

Beyond the loli, I definitely preferred 4 to 3... and a PS3 version would fix one of my big complaints with the game, the disk swapping. Wasn't a fan at all of 3, really disappointing considering how much I loved 1 and (especially) 2.

So what exclusive RPGs does 360 have left now? BD, LO and Fable?

It was just misinterpreted/misreported (they said the Conqueror character -- the bad guy -- was designed to appeal to the western market and to male players, this was somehow interpreted as meaning he was an alternate selectable player character), it wasn't something that was ever planned and then cut.  Also you're using "lauded" incorrectly.

I think in the original GI article it said you could play as the Conqueror

I'm not sure it actually said that even in the article -- I think it just appeared to imply that -- but if it did, it was GI's misreporting.  Info about Japanese games gets garbled in the western press all the time due to the confusion introduced by having to go through interpreters, etc.

My guess is they were developing on both platforms with the attitude of "we'll fix the framerate etc. later" and when time came to actually do that, they discovered they couldn't on PS3 (and only sort of could on 360)?

SHO NUFF YOU KILLED JX360 GAAAAAAMING!!!!

This is true; with SHO NUFF gone, that's 1 less copy of Xbox 360 games sold in Japan. By my estimates, that's about 33% of the market.

Cormacaroni and DCharlie are the other 66%.

 >:( I can't tell if you're joking or not, but it wouldn't surprise me. Japan has been fascinated with transsexualism for, well, possibly forever. I remember that Battle of the Planets substantially "straightened" out the Gatchaman main villain to be a guy who wore (never mentioned) lipstick rather than a hermaphrodite.

Does anyone actually like the Famitsuu mascot, that creepy wolf or dog or whatever? He really annoys me; he's the Forrest Gump of the gaming world. "I was there, with the heroes!"
