I don't mean to derail your thread with the first reply, but why doesn't this potential shitfest have any reviews yet? Isn't it out in a day or 2?

Downloading an HD version of the linked videos right now

Usually reviews for big loads of shitfists go out on launch day. Not?

I don't know, nor do I care. It's been a while since I've read or cared about a review.

It just seems strange. I mean, is this normal for a game that is on the threshold of its release date? And I'm too poor to be throwing money at games that are giant question marks, hence the desire for a couple reviews.

Anyway, I watched it. Just a few general thoughts:

-Tricia Helfer :hump

-Visor mode looks pretty cool

-Including a map is neat as well

-Pistol looks like shit, but I already bitched about that plenty in the other thread

-Disabling gaydar and bringing back HP will definitely ramp up the intensity of things, although I hope they don't compensate by littering health packs all over the place every 50 feet

-I like the environment of a huge post-apocalyptic city, but at the same time I don't. The Halo campaigns' strongest levels have always been set in those open, expansive landscapes with lavish scenery, not in the confines of city walls and buildings. Bungie's civilization locale designs are always so drab and blah

Meh. I'll probably just wait for a friend to buy it and do co-op

Half that video wants in the confines of the city at all. Looks like a lot of fun to me, the best parts of the other halo games are the open levels.

Wasn't that just a playable flashback or something? I'm a little fuzzy on the storyline, but I thought that the entire game revolves around that city for the most part.

edit:
Quote
a single ship lands above the city and eventually retreats via a slipspace jump, creating a shockwave that destroys much of the city. While the rest of Halo 2's storyline follows the cruiser to a ringworld called Halo, ODST focuses on the aftermath of the shockwave, where the Covenant still occupy the city.

Yeah, I was thinking about including in my post how much I loathe that geek chic taco. Also:

In an episode of GameTrailers Bonus Round recorded at the Penny Arcade Expo, Brian Jarrard of Bungie revealed that Halo 3: ODST was completed way back in May and was held back to be released during the holiday season.
