I don't get why there are hardcore gamers who are still offended by what Nintendo is offering.  Isn't it apparent by now that Nintendo systems are mainly for kids?

well, there's those Nicalis Wii Ware games, and a eventual Ace Combat-but-with-animu Wii game coming out, those count for something, right?

Ah hell with it.  At this point making fun of the Wii is like pointing out Polio victims can't win footraces, its getting repetitive no matter how true it still remains to be.

Don't forget Silent Hill 1 remake in November.  It could be terrible with no combat, or it could be good.  Either way it's our new yearly Yamaoka album so I'll give it a play.

Kinda wish Shantae was for the WiiWare service instead.

edit:
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories - November
Super Monkey Ball Step & Roll™ - Early 2010
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles™: Smash-up - Sept. 22
Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage - Nov. 8
BIT.TRIP VOID - Q3
BIT.TRIP series (3 additional titles) - Q4, Q1
Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth - Q3
Cave Story - Q3
Wii Fit Plus - Oct. 4
New Super Mario Bros. Wii - Holiday

Not bad, and Endless Ocean 2 will be out next year along with Monkey ball.  Although I hope Monkey ball has an option where you can hold the wiimote sideways like in kororinpa 2.

I'm getting NSMB and Zelda for sure.  If Cave Story Wiiware is this year, I'll get that too.  For Shantae and Castlevania Wiiware, I'll hold off to see how they turn out.  I was planning on getting Silent Hill but more I read up on it, the less interesting it seems; it seems like a backwards response to homecoming.  Boy and His Blob also looks really pretty but really dull.

NSMB was more than I expected.  It will be really hard for them to fuck it up.  Hell, if they manage to make it really good, even better.  It's like one part about LittleBigPlanet I really liked, but as a 2D Mario platformer, which is better than LBP platforming no matter how you felt about it.  Zelda is Zelda; I'll find enjoyment from it.

Totally forgot about Silent Hill.  I'll get that for sure since I was a big fan of SH2 and Sh3 but I never played the first.  The last 3 SHs have all ranged from meh to :yuck .

Hopefully, Konami will get back that special horror magic for the remake.

I'm worried about my WII though.  I haven't used it for more than a year and the dust might have killed it.

I'm admittedly not much of a gamer these days, so pay no attention to me. I still haven't bought anything from* this year, although I will eventually get Halo Wars. ODST will be my first game of 09.

(*I just got my 360 right before Christmas last year. So I have bought seven games from the back catalog [plus one XBLA] since then.)

As much as hating on the Wii is fun, it does have its share of good games.  I have almost 30 titles for it now; can't really complain.  Would still much rather play 360 and PS3 though.

Have they even shown the PS2 version of the game? They've been focusing on the Wii version entirely, with the PSP version stuck in a corner at E3 and GamesCom.

lol Wii.

This holiday seems boring as fuck to me.  Mass Effect 2 (boring sci-fi crap), Halo ODST (tired of Halo), Uncharted 2 (lol), Modern Warfare 2 (I'd look into but I know I'd get my ass beat online by those that play it 12 hours a day), etc.  NSMB Wii might be one of the few holiday titles I could see myself actually buying down the road.

Holiday 2010 is all about dat Galaxy 2.

I was a Wii exclusive owner and it was fucking painful.

You enjoyed it at first because Mario Galaxy kicks ass but once you get 242 stars, what then?  Wait until the next somewhat significant release comes out.  Maybe see if a B or C level game is cheap enough to justify the value while hoping that the game you're waiting for turns out to be worth it.  If so, play and beat it for the next month and then wait for the next one.  Again, check around to see if a B or C level title is cheap enough to justify buying it.

I was Wii exclusive for the rare moment it was considered to be worth it to own one (Fall 2007 to Spring 2008)  I couldn't imagine how it is since then since the pool has almost dried up completely.  Fortunately, I was able to sell it off for the cost I paid for it.

Uhh, I don't see that much to complain about, really.  The main problem with Wii is its lackluster online infrastructure and that occassionaly I come across something with broken controls.  I guess if I owned an hd set I'd be resentful.  For some dumb reason they like to hook up Wii systems to lcd hd monitors at demo stations.  The image is AWFUL.  I guess my thing lately is that I trade in what I finish and consider to have little replay value.   My collection isn't very big now other than the pick up and play stuff that I keep.

edit: I'm going to check my game usage and count up what I've played, although this is my second wii after giving away the first so the numbers won't include stuff I played pre-animal crossing.

Your mistake is having standards for the Wii.

As someone who owns a Wii because every once in a year Nintendo puts out an incredible game, I've come to expect nothing between those games.  I can't sell the thing because I know something like Mario Galaxy 2 is going to be fantastic, and if I'm surprised in that in-between time, it's a treat.

Nintendo's lost it, and its not even the fact they do casual shit. The casual shit is no better or worse than connectivity on Gamecube. It's the fact they only make ports or remakes of old games now. Punch-out is apparently the same, all the Mario Sports games, and about a dozen Gamecube sequels or direct ports that are exactly the same like Ainimal Crossing, Fire Emblem, Battalion Wars, etc.

What happened to shit like Waverace, F-Zero, Donkey Kong, Starfox, and shit? Seems like every "real" game they make now is some unwanted sequel or port. Even the new Super Mario Bros, why the hell do they gotta make it a 4 player party game? Why not just make a colorful kickass original Super Mario World type game? Makes no sense.

The WII is my least favorite system but I could see how it's actually a pretty good system for people who've had little experience with gaming or have skipped gaming for awhile.  Those types of gamers could easily find a bunch of games that they would enjoy.

Although there aren't many great WII titles, keep in mind that the WII is the only system with 100% backwards capabilitiy with its predecessor and a huge selection of virtual console games.

No, that's software.  I don't have that many WiiWare/VC games.

:lol  I'm known to be one of those types who buys too many fucking games.  Remember the Gamestop days?    :lol :lol

Here's what I own.  The games that are ports/multiplatform are bolded.

-Wii Sports
-Wii Play (bought at launch to get the extra Wiimote)
-Odoru Made In Wario
-Excite Truck
-Mario Strikers Charged
-Super Mario Galaxy
-Super Smash Bros. Brawl
-Mario Kart Wii
-Warioland Shake
-Punch-Out!!
-Metroid Prime Trilogy
-Biohazard 0
-Biohazard Umbrella Chronicles
-Biohazard 4 Wii Edition
-We Love Golf
-Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes Double Pack
-Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom
-Dragonball Z Sparking Meteor
-Samurai Spirits Rokuban Shoubu
-Ghost Squad
-Madworld
-Guilty Gear XX Accent Core
-Muramasa (in both Japanese and English now  :-[)
-No More Heroes
-Oneechanbara Revolution
-Tenchu 4

That's 26 games.  7 are multiplatform games.  Out of the 19 games leftover, there's only a couple I wish I could be rid of.  In contrast, I have 37 Xbox 360 games and 20 PS3 games (counting a few downloadable titles), although I've owned more than that.  With the Wii, I really never sold most of the games I got for it.

I'll get the Wii version of SH over the PS2 one.  The trailers/gameplay footage looks fairly nice for Wii and beyond PS2 visuals.  Plus it seems obvious the Wii version is the lead platform.  I actually think it could be a good game since Climax UK's Silent Hill PSP was solid and a better effort than Double Helix's SH5.  Will buy SH Wii day 1 cause I'm a SH whore.

I've bought a decent amount of Wii games but most of it is shit and I regret owning them.

The only Wii games worth owning IMO:

-Zelda (if you have the GC version then it isn't)
-Mario Galaxy
-No More Heroes
-Madworld
-Muramasa
-Wario Shake It
-Fire Emblem
-Little King Story

Wii version has remote and nunchuk waggling which suck but do the job.  A big upside is crossbow aiming. I'd get the Wii version.

To me the Wii was worth it for Zelda and Galaxy, Wii Sports/Play/Fit.  I don't mind it sitting around for long periods.

Holy crap lyte you crazy bastard. :lol

 :lol

If you think that's crazy, I have around 140 PS2 games!  That's probably nothing compared to what some of the serious collectors (like DCharlie!) own.

It's a little off-topic, but what good Nintendo DS games are there for really young kids? Like preschoolers? My son has trouble with complex (average) gameplay.

-Marble Saga Kororinpa
-Sonic and the Secret Rings
-Baroque
