Am I missing something with Stalker?

I like Stalker. It is my cup of very weird tea. But I die fucking CONSTANTLY. Is that normal or am I "doing it wrong"? I know it's not an FPS, it's more Theif-y, but like. I step outside a building and there's Joe Machinegun and wham I die and I turn a corner and here's a monster oh no dead.

Play a bit more stealthily and have a huge supply of healing agents on hand at all times. You'll still probably die quite a few times, though.

I think so, since Steam makes a local install.

Also, starting weapons suck. The first machine gun you get is a revelation.
