Laptop bore I need your help
« on: September 21, 2009, 06:52:27 PM »
The ethernet port of my desktop pc is dead so I have been using my sister's laptop to get online but it died this saturday :'(

When I turned it on it gave me a error message saying that there was no OS on the hard drive, I pressed the system recovery option, that formatted the hard drive and reinstalled windows, but when I get to that screen where you have to put the name of the computer, the date and all that crap I press next on the first screen and it just go white, I can heard the music and even call that little help avatar but nothing else.

I tried the recovery using the XP cd that came with the laptop but it gave me the same results and when I try to use my XP SP3 cd that I use on my desktop it says that there is no HD on the machine.

Any idea on what can be wrong? i need to download the latest Curb episode but can't find a damn link that works on shitty college internet :'(

spoiler (click to show/hide)
I also no have any porn on my desktop :'( :'( :'(

For your Desktop Ethernet, try going into Device Manager and set a lower speed&duplex for your network adapter.  It should be in the advanced tab of your Network adapter.  Many newer motherboards support gigabit speed but they won't work at that speed once 1 pin is damaged.  However there's a good chance that a damaged gigabit adapter can still work if the speed is set to 100 Mbps or slower.
