Sorcerer is fucking awful. That's my least played bored. Way too damn hard, though I will get on inexplicable rolls with it sometimes. Jive Time is shit too but it's shitty in a retro way.

I am super pissed off at the camera placement on the new boards. WTF were they thinking?

Great game but I have a few issues:

-Why is there no LOOK AT THE TABLE mode?  Since a lot of the tables have all kinds of cool things written on the board it'd be nice if you could take your time and just move around the table model and check out the machine from all different angles like you could IN REAL LIFE

-On some of the machines I'm not really satisfied with any of the camera modes.  Like with Arabian Nights.  The zoomed out ones make everything look so small and the zoomed in angle ones look weird.

Otherwise digging it.  Gorgar kinda sucks.

I started out on my journey to learn the workings of each table and do all the goals/set the high score.  I started with Gorgar.  So much frustration from bullshit down the side lanes right from the start.  I'd have a great first ball and then get like 5k on the next two and it felt like it was totally random and out of my control.

Finally did it and I gotta say when you hear "me hurt, me hurt" it feels pretty darn good after all the grrr

Either the boards outlanes are too open leading to some bullshit shots, or the board is too cluttered to even see where you're shooting (FUNHOUSE). I can't seem to find a good middle-ground board.

Well the tutorial tells you what you need to know with a guided tour of each table.  As far as people bitching about standard pinball machine antics, these machines were designed to eat your quarters.  Its a good re-creation as far as I'm concerned!

Just had an amazing game on firepower, which was the next table I tried to tackle.  Was doing terrible at first but then had 2 ball runs where I went foreeeever.  Got all the goals and set the high score at 1,592,600 which puts me at #9 on the PS3 leaderboards for it.  I've never been in the top 10 on a leaderboard for ANY GAME so this is awesoooome

Arent the PS3 trophies just score based? I wish the 360 ones were just score based  :'(

I played a bunch today, and made great progress. Did the Basic *and* Wizard goals for Funhouse, and the Basic goals for Taxi. I just need one more for Taxi, and it's not even skill based. It's a 20% chance roulette game that you have to get a certain square. distinguished mentally-challenged.

They are but the basic and wizard goals are still fun to do even if you don't get trophies for them.

How do you unlock Jive Time?  I want to go through the tables in Chronological order but Jive Time is the oldest and it's locked :(  So I started with Gorgar instead.

Yeah, well hopefully it is since I doubt I'll ever unlock it then.  The Williams Challenge is waaaay too luck based and frustrating for me.  Spend 30-40 mins and get 10 tables in?  Oh, look you just got a bunch of shitty outlanes off the bat because of random luck and used up your 3 tries; Goodbye, you've just wasted 40 mins of time for nothing.  There's just way too many tables to go through without a major screwup.  Ugh.

:lol Yep that's pretty much it. I got lucky sometimes. You get 2 retries, and it resets if you go to a new board. The scores aren't that bad to beat, it's just the outlanes can get you.

wowwww

I suck at Gorgar.  Even after 2 days of playing it, my highest is like 300k. I get a lot of bounces off the bumpers right above the flippers that knock it to the outlanes.

And I need to learn Taxi scoring.  I did it once and I didn't get very much.

For Taxi, you can manipulate the C A B with the flippers, and since the ball sometimes bounces back and forth through one letter, you can rack up the multiplier and activate Extra Ball (providing you can hit the shot, its really easy to get). It's also really easy to get multiball going. Just focus on doing loopdeloops, it's very easy to go through the motion.

I'm trying to do the goal of "Get a Special in Joyride" which is fucking distinguished mentally-challenged since its a game of chance and no skill.

Did Black Knight & Space Shuttle.  BK was annoying just because it's hard to get much points but HOLY CRAP IS SPACE SHUTTLE BULLSHIT.  Going for high scores in the 2/3/4+ million is annoying as hell.  the worst part of space shuttle is how it's designed so if the ball cleanly rolls off the floor below the bumpers it goes STRAIGHT INTO THE RIGHT OUTLANE.  Between that and the multi-ball lock spots being hard to hit and to top it off I could never find the right timing to making the space shuttle ramp reliably on either side; yeah, so much luck and frustration.  Ended up with 3.3 million run after an hour, but soooooo frustrating.

You need to learn to hold the ball with the flipper, it can save you a lot for when the ball is going haywire and you just want control. It's also great to set up easy shots that you know you can make. Space Shuttle is great for this.

For Black Knight, you can set up a 3-ball multi right from the start by holding the right flipper when you launch, which makes it flick off to the top, and from there one quick flick from the left makes it fly into the lock.

I did some more today - finished Whirlwind, Space Shuttle, and Taxi. Doing Sorcerer now, which is probably the worst table in the game.

I hold a lot, but even held I can't reliably make the multi-ball locks or the space shuttle ramp in Space Shuttle.  In the other boards I've played so far I can make the ball go where I want with a good reliability, but not SS, which is why SS was the hardest for me so far.  Just kind of random luck shots.

Did Sorceror.  Why do you hate it demi?  I thought it was such a nice catch-your-breath table after the others I've done so far.  It's reaaaaaaaaaaaaally easy outside spelling Sorceror.  But even doing that a few times isn't insanely hard.  Just takes a little luck not to get outlane stuff.  I think my score was around 3-4 million.

Did Pinbot, don't really like the table that much.  You can't do much when the visor is closed and it's all about hoping to get the visor open quick and keep multi-ball going.  Advancing planets also sucks.  The drop targets aren't super easy to hit and I never hit the left flipper return lane -> bell advancement once in 30 mins of playing.  Dunno why I ever bought the table back in the day.  Probably cause it was cheap.  I think we got it for <$200.

Also sorta of really not happy that because Crave's server was down when I did Black Knight, Space Shuttle, and Sorceror last time, none of my scores got uploaded to the leaderboard and it doesn't seem like there's anyway to get them to upload now.  Not like they were top20 material scores, but they were decent (3 million, 3.6 million, 3.9 million respectively) and it's lame not to have them on the board.  :\

I tried the Williams Challenge

1st try, died on Taxi
2nd try, died on Pinbot
3rd try, died on Gorgar (WTF)
4th try, beaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat it

Had sooo many close scares where I was on my last continue for that table.  Like in Firestorm where I got 197k on my first try (you need 200k) and then failed my 2nd and was going to be really ticked if I died on my 3rd but I passed it on the last ball.  Then MEDIEVAL MADNESS which you needed 15 million and I'd never played the table before and my first two tries were like 5-9 million and since it was like AN HOUR INTO THE CHALLENGE and the 2nd to last table I was sweating bullets.  Then on my 3rd try I just kept going and going and going on my first ball.  Ended up with 87 million, lol.  Then beat Golfer with 9 million on my first try, yay.

Then I did all the goals and high score for Jive Time.  Table is boring, have to be good at tilt and use it correctly to do decently on that table, but it was kind of fun.  After finishing that I got my LAST TROPHY.

First PS3 game I've 100%'d in trophies.  SO SATISFYING.

I've still got 6 tables to do the goals for though, so gonna keep playing.  Taxi, Whirlwind, Funhouse, Medieval Madness, Arabian Nights, and Gopher.  Looking forward to learning those tables in depth.

I would say this is tied with Batman for GoTY, but I think they could've done a few minor things to make it a better game:
1.  FRIENDS FILTER IN LEADBOARDS
2.  Make your own camera angle; just give you a 3d camera to move around the board and place it down and it'd be CUSTOM1
3.  Checkpoints along the Williams Challenge
4.  Model Viewer mode where you can move around the table and look at it
5.  Better default angles for a few like Arabian nights

Still, I love this game.

Did Taxi, was ok.  Enjoy the table but I suck at getting Gorbi

Did Whirlwind and OMFG I WANT TO BREAK THE GAME IN TWO PIECES AND NEVER PLAY IT AGAIN.  I can do fine on the table and score like 12 million+, but the fucking goal where you have to get ALL THREE UPPER JETS FLASHING AND THEN HIT DROP TARGET.  WORST GOAL EVER.

-I get ACTIVATE UPPER JETS on the roll thing about 1/7 times
-Then I get it in the yellow cellar to activate it before it rolls to another bonus maybe 1/10 times
-The chance of hitting the drop target before dying is about 1/10 times

So yeah, it's like I have a 1/100 chance of pulling this off.  I spent 2 hours straight on this SINGLE GOAL and I just can't fucking do it.  It's driving me crazy and I better move on to the next table or I'm just going to give up on the game permanently at this point since this goal is so frustrating.

Spent another 30 mins this morning on that Whirlwind goal and finally GOT IT.  The problem imo is that the detection on the upper spot target is TERRIBLE.  I hit it so many times and it wouldn't register most of them.  Was just a matter of patience and luck :(  At least I know Whirlwind like the back of my hand now.  Got about 20 million on my first game this morning.

The lack of friend's lists for comparing scores is a huge oversight. And I know they worry about cheaters, but the whole "can't upload your score when not connected to XBox Live" thing really kills me with games of this type, as I tend to have to play offline through most the week.

Or like when I mentioned earlier THEIR server is down and so even if you are connected fine your scores don't upload.  Total bs.  I say we just keep an offline high score list here once people have had some time with the game.

You know, when I can rank 4th place in the PS3 world with 103 million in Arabian Nights and still NOT BE ABLE TO FINISH A BASIC GOAL OF THAT TABLE you know the goal is BS TOTAL.

Activating Harem multiball....wtf.  First of all, the left ramp that goes to it is hardly ever leading to the harem bumpers area.  90% of the time it's just a tiger loop.  Then you have to do that 5 times?!??  I played for an hour and never even got to the 3rd letter in HAREM.

Since I can't beat Rudy Gulp on Funhouse, or Activate Harem Multiball on Arabian Nights, I'm moving on to the last table of Gophers for me.  If I finish that up I'll either spend HOURS and HOURS on those two goals or just say forget it and call the game done.

So now that I've learned these tables like the back of my hand and love them all to death, I want more tables!!

I see these guys did the Gotlieb collection on PS2/PSP/GC with another set of tables and the same setup with table goals and all.  Anyone played that collection?  Which version should I get if I wanted to give it a play?  How are the tables?

Here are my high scores from going after goals:

Medieval Madness - 87,261,980
Gorgar - 352,590
Space Shuttle - 3,517,870
Firepower - 1,592,190
Funhouse - 25,261,470
Black Knight - 3,083,090
No Good Gophers - 21,288,930
Sorcerer - 3,836,260
Jive Time - 118,020
Arabian Nights - 103,679,530
Pinbot - 3, 714,390
Taxi - 6,006,460
Whirlwind - 20,448,010

And just to get some sort of leaderboard going, here are demi's scores posted on page 2:
Gorgar - 774,xxx
FunHouse - 36,771,xxx
Taxi - 9,182,xxx
PinBot - 4,986,xxx 13th
Black Knight - 3,359,xxx 26th
Space Shuttle - 6,930,xxx 21st
Whirlwind - 4,626,xxx 194th
Firepower - 786,xxx 74th
Sorcerer - 1,775,xxx 122nd
Arabian Nights - 7,940,xxx 259th
Medieval Madness - 34,875,xxx 174th
Gofers - 41,284,xxx 26th

That's pretty good for SS.  I hate that board!  Age-wise I feel like everything from Whirlwind/Funhouse-era on is pretty easy to rack up a ton of points.  Pre-that-era the tables are a lot tougher to keep going on.

Tried playing again tonight.  Oh god, stress level max.  I think I'm going to stick to the easy tables because the outlane and random ARGH moments on some of the older tables make me RAGE.  You guys do great in Pinbot.  I hate that table.  Once it's in the bumpers it's like BUMPERS OF FAITH with how many times it shoots the ball into the outlane >_<
