I'm hoping to make a scraper soon.  Game needs to be updated to allow 24's and Buick LeSabres.  Plus whistle tips.

The higher gear ratio will give you better acceleration, but a lower top speed.  However, the power will be more evenly distributed throughout the gears.  Changing to 4.10 or 3.90 gears will make first and second gear REALLY short.  Like as soon as you go you need to be out of first kind of short.

Yeah top speed doesn't actually much in this game except for the few bowl tracks and Le Mans.  The Veyron for example has so much weight that while the car is powerful to accelerate quickly, it can't brake or turn for shit so it's worse than a lot of cars a class below it when it comes to the Japan or Italy tracks.  I normally tune my cars to have the best launch, braking, and handling.

But yeah, it's crap for handling.  Kinda like the Viper.  Not a track car.  It's just a raw connection between the driver and the car.  Hell, there isn't even Active Handling on a goddamn Viper.  That's fucking awesome.

And yeah, top speed is nothing but a bullet point in the game and in real life.  In any realistic situation, you will run out of track before you hit top speed.

Played a few events.  Nice game but it's still not really for me.  The framerate is great.  IQ is great.  Controls are great.  Love the "make your own difficulty" and be rewarded appropriately thing.  I'm playing on medium AI and it's fucking tough compared to medium on GT or arcade racers.  Neck and neck for a long time.  Like the fast progression system.  Like the easy achievements.  Love unlimited rewind.

I don't like that even with both discs installed the game has terrible loading.  I understand 30-60 second track loading, but the little loads like when you win a new car and have to wait for it to load post-race.  I don't expect stuff like that when running off the HDD.  Definitely the worst loads I've seen on an installed game.  Turn 10 needs to work on programming a bit.  I don't like the announcer bubble popping up WHENEVER I DO ANYTHING.  I've had a bunch of times where I hit the button to get past the bubble and it does some post-bubble action like SPEND 30k CREDITS ON UPGRADING MY CAR wtfwtfwtf.  I don't like that's there no "quick race" type option to just pick a track and a car and race.  I had to go to online mode and just play alone to do that.  I don't like that the graphics on some tracks (I guess F2 tracks like NYC) look pretty bad compared to PGR/GT.  Also had some glitches post-rewind where the game starts chugging and dropping frames.

I feel like at the start I kept doing the same three tracks over and over with slight variations (reverse/different routes).  I'll play it here and there, but this is why I'm not really into sims like Forza or GT.

There's a quick race option - it's right at the start screen.  You'll have to go back one screen from the main menu.  I can't remember what it's called just now but in there is "Hot Lap" which is like time trials.

I turned all the assists off, went to manual + clutch and left the AI on medium and only braking lines on and ....the game became fun!    When you have more things to keep track off I have more fun.  Also since I drive stick irl, clutch is really fun here.  It also seems like turning all the assists off and going clutch gives you better control of your car.  Instead of being neck and neck on medium AI like I was before, I was getting good leads on everyone with assists off.  If there was a true FF wheel for X360 w/clutch I'd almost be tempted to get it.

Two complaints:
1.  I want to play in cockpit view the whole time, but the rear view mirror is 80% OFFSCREEN for most cars I've tried so far.   So I have to keep hitting back on the right analogue to see where the car behind me is.  Now when I'm sitting in a car IRL I can always SEE MY REAR VIEW MIRROR without turning my head.  >_<

2.  Not really a complaint but I usually follow the cars ahead of me and sometimes they suddenly go CRAZY and drive full speed at a turn and off the track into a wall.  Thankfully rewind function saves me there!

Also how the heck do you win an auction?  I tried bidding on a bunch of cars when they were down to 1-2 mins.  By the time I got the message that I'd been outbid and the slooooooooooooooooooooooow loading of opening the window and rebidding, the auction is over.  I got outbid every single time!  On shitty cars too!  What's up with that :X

I don't see the point in spending $$$ for a wheel that won't offer any resistance when you turn and just vibrates along with bumps in the road.  The feeling of having the road fighting you with real g-forces is what makes racing games in the arcade so fun.  After using a FF wheel with resistance on GT4, I can't go back to non-resistance wheels.

You can adjust your FOV within the cockpit view.

To change the angle, just do the following to the settings under the multi-screen setup options:

    * Multiscreen: On
    * Mode: Host
    * Channel: 0 will do
    * View: Center
    * Degrees Hidden: 0 or just play around with it
    * Degrees between screens: 62 (recommended) or whatever suits you best

The problem with a full 900 degree wheel is that you can't react as fast as on a pad.  It feels cool but it's less functional outside of like drift races.

For the auction achievement, you can definitely get the cheapest, shittiest car possible for under 10,000 which isn't a lot of money after a couple seasons.  What I need to do is sell a bullshti vinyl group or tuning setup or something.  Anybody want to team up on that?

I've never tried the game with assists so don't have anything to compare to, but I really like it with all assists off.  It's like the game was designed to be perfect with no assists.  Only thing is that it's a little too forgiving but I've heard that changes with some of the highest class cars.

Someone explain to me the point of playing with the ABS off. I tried it for one race in Forza 2, and the car skidded out if I so much as tapped the left trigger. It seemed like all it did was make the car much, much worse at braking. But maybe there's some secret advantage that I don't know about?

On the contrary, it gives you much finer control over the braking (since it allows much more aggressive braking than if ABS kicked in to prevent them locking up). Give it a bit more practice in a manageable car and you'll come around. Also, upgrade your car's brakes ASAP.

My baby right now is a C5 Z06 Corvette.  I've done everything except an engine swap.  She's topped out at 770 HP.  I was going to drop a ZR1 engine in her, but I'm not sure.  The stock ZR1 engine is a huge drop in pretty much everything.  It's pretty much an LS3 with forged internals and a supercharger.  Will the ZR1 engine come NA or will it come with the supercharger?

Also for tuning n00bs, if you're looking for a great balance between acceleration and top speed, 3.90 gears seems to be a pretty reliable balance.  You can of course make it better if you want to alter each individual gear.  But set the final drive gear at 3.9 and it'll make a world of difference.  I was going to try 4.10 gears, but good god, my Corvette topped out at 146 and went through gears like nothing.  4.10's will probably work with something insanely curvy where you won't ever hit a large straightaway
