The auteur will develop a reboot of the 1986 classic with Fox, the studio that released that film, directing and potentially writing the new pic.

The move marks an about-face for the Canadian director, who in the past has said he did not want to be involved on a remake of the film. Cronenberg did work on an opera version of "The Fly" that was staged first in Paris and then in Los Angeles.

I know he had nothing to do with the writing or directing but.... Cronenberg had a cameo in Jason X for God's sake. I'm sure he knows what he is doing, though, but he won't be able to top the practical effects that the 86 Fly had. Practical > CGI

I know it's trash but I love Jason X anyways BTW

Better yet, remake movies that haven't even been finished.

I know, I'm still uneasy about the Yellow Submarine remake. Hopefully it doesn't suck, but it probably will. :'(
