Watching now.  Pretty good, but it's kind of tough to get over Harold and Seth McFarlane as FBI agents.

Premiere was pretty good, previews for upcoming weeks look solid as well.  I think I'll be giving this show a chance.

Wait, there's a book?

Yeah, by Robert J. Sawyer. Almost all of the main characters are egghead scientists working at CERN instead of worthless shitburger types like in the TV show, quantum physics discussion is free-flowing (while not losing the intense human heart of the story) and can you really feel the characters wrestle with predestination and later immortality.

The Flash Forward is also decades ahead instead of the much different timeframe of the TV show, which makes things far more interesting because then you have a very significant set of the population that "blanked" instead of just a sliver, which has obvious social ramifications.

First episode was pretty good. Hopefully it can avoid the Braga/Goyer one-two punch of suckiness, which Threshold couldn't.

I thought it was pretty bland. Not good, not offensively bad - just kind of there. Its pathetic how bad ABC wants their next LOST. Flashforward's cold open was the exact same as the LOST pilot's, for christsakes 

Im gonna give it about 2 more weeks to grip me in some way.

Overall, it was an interesting pilot and the scenes of chaos at the beginning were really good. HOWEVER, there were some things that just left me shaking my head a little bit.

1. I don't buy that the FBI agent and his doctor wife casually went home at the end of the day. The scenes early in the day were of widespread destruction, panic, and looting. The doctor wife isn't going anywhere because the hospital is going to be absolutely FLOODED with patients, not "Oh we've got an injured boy here, everybody move! Oh wait, he's better no, guess I'll clock out". The FBI agent would most likely be spending the rest of the night with the other agents trying to help the local police get the city under control again.

2. Once the FBI agent gets to the FBI buildings it's like everything's okay now, no more trouble in the city, we're just trying to figure out why this happened now.

Watched it last night, this is going to be a rough one if I stick with it. Steve from Coupling, Harold, a hobbit, Penny and a bunch of other very recognizable faces acting out the most humorless, bloody serious drama I've seen in some time. This had better be fast.

Second episode was alright, but I already find myself getting bored with the main FBI agent's marital problems storyline.  I'm more interested in the OMGWTF WAS THE BLACKOUT angle.  Also, Harold is totally gonna end up fathering the chick FBI agent's baby.

See, that's what gets to me. I could deal with this if I thought they could wrap it up in two seasons at most, and that would almost certainly make for better television, but there seems to be such an investment in the production and marketing of American shows that they need to push at least 5 unnecessarily drawn out seasons.

So yeah, starting to get tired of all these people who I don't give a damn about. They are really trying very hard to drill in the bloody seriousness of the situation with a strict focus on these characters, but the problem is that the characters generally suck.

yeah, this show is boring and moving way too slow.

Stupid bearded AA guy and his daughter are boring.  Intense stare man's wife is boring.  Well, most everything is kinda boring.  You get about 10 minutes progression on the story you want to hear about, then the rest is people like "HARK! FLASH FORWARDS WERE GOOD! I HAVE HOPE IN THE FUTURE"  vs "NO! THE FUTURE IS BAD AND I CAN'T COPE WITH IT!"  Do they realize how many people died? no one cares that you will leave your husband in the future.  If you're so worried, castrate the guy you saw in the vision and fuck off.

Watched the second episode on hulu and didn't finish.  Atrocious dialouge and acting. The cpr in the bathroom got a chuckle but otherwise not interesting.  Its so weird that Lost actor doing a non british accent.

Really? There's been virtually no story development regarding the flashforward itself, and instead deepening focus on these uninteresting characters. I get more out of the "next week on" stings than I do whole episodes, and that's not really good.
