I'm pretty pumped. I'll probably break out the decorations this weekend, and I've begun my month long horror marathon.

I'm going to watch Trick 'r Treat tonight and see if it's any good. Also, AFI is doing a special screening of the original Nosferatu accompanied with a live orchestra. I might check that out.

I have Halloween lights up year round - it is the greatest holiday in the history of the universe.

Yeah, this is the lineup for the AFI Silver Theater this year:

Nosferatu
Two Thousand Maniacs!
An American Werewolf in London
Werewolf of London
The Wolfman
Shaun of the Dead
The Howling
Wolfen

... I find it funny that An American Werewolf in London, The Howling and Wolfen were all released within the same year. I've never seen Wolfen, so I might catch that. Also, that Nosferatu screening sounds pretty rad.

Trying to get The Entity and The Tenant from Netflix, since I've never seen either. But with the recent release of Paranormal Activity and Polanski's arrest, both have waiting times. :-\

I have Grace coming in today; that was recommended by Eric P and we never steer each other wrong.

I've seen both of those recommendations.

Remember, I'm the crazy loon that contends The Ring is an American remake of a Japanese horror film adapted from a Japanese novel that ripped off Peter Medak's The Changeling.

Yeah, I made that claim almost three years ago.

After having some time pass, I feel more strongly about that now than I did before!

Reading that old thread made me realize I miss Error Macro. He just disappeared off the face of the planet after last year. I hope he is alright.

I watched Sleepwalkers last night, it was so awful. :lol

While the incest angle is unsettling, Alice Krige was so hot back in the day. :drool

Just watched Trick 'r Treat. Movie was pretty awesome, I am probably going to buy it.

Disposable White Guy agreed - it's a travesty that Warner Bros. shelved it.

We're going to get one after our elderly cat passes away in three or four years. Every time my wife sees a French Bulldog she starts laughing uncontrollably. It's awesome.

I'm going to be dressed up as my dad for my work halloween costume.  He retired about two weeks ago, and I think people will get a kick of it.

For halloween parties, I'll probably dress up as the guy who's trying to be sober even though he's had the most to drink.  Or maybe the Engineer from TF2.

That song is awesome.

I don't have any Halloween plans and no costume yet. Normally I can just go to Evangeline's and pick up a costume, but I gotta figure out a whole new plan this year. So far I haven't seen anything interesting to do or go to around here for Halloween.

Wrapped up Grace - it was okay. I felt it stretched the limits of believability, and it seemed to drag in spots. Also, for such a neat concept, it is far too restrained.

There are a lot.

Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Zombi, Return of the Living Dead, Dead Alive, Night of the Creeps, Cemetery Man, 28 Days Later, Shaun of the Dead, Zombieland, Snyder's Dawn of the Dead, [REC], Deadgirl, etc.

I like it. It's certainly the corniest of the three good Dead movies, but it's still got some good stuff in it. Land of The Dead, and pretty much everything after it, is awful.

Eh, I'm not even down on Land of the Dead entirely, but it is definitely scraping the bottom of the Romero barrel.

The whole zombie psychology angle was interesting, if a bit corny, in Day I thought, but I felt it was just really lame in Land.

This will finally realize my sexual fantasy with Silent Bob and Jay, but which one is the power bottom?

... Also, does anybody remember Disney's The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr.Toad?

To me, the Legend of Sleepy Hollow short film defined Halloween, in all its vintage New England glory, as a child. I remember it used to air on network television, always around Halloween. The art style, the atmosphere - it felt like Halloween magic caught on celluloid.

I wish people made stuff like this for kids nowadays.

It's also better than Tim Burton's film! See for yourself!

Watched Black Christmas tonight - the original - and it's still pretty neat to see the concepts that were properly fleshed out in Carpenter's Halloween.
