You know it’s coming and now you can have a sneak peek at the God of War Collection. Available this November – just in time for the holidays — fans and newcomers to the franchise will be able to experience the epic journey that is God of War and God of War II on the PlayStation 3 for the first time remastered in full (edit: 1280x720) HD resolution on a single Blu-ray Disc. Both critically acclaimed games (originally developed for the PS2) will include 2X anti-aliased graphics running at 60 frames per second for an ultra smooth gameplay experience on the PS3. PlayStation Network trophy support will also be included – a first for the series. Take a look…

And don’t forget, the God of War Collection will also include a PSN voucher code for the God of War III E3 2009 Demo. So don’t miss your chance to check out God of War III before it hits store shelves in March 2010.

God of War II had a 720 mode on the PS2 that you could unlock. Too bad Sony won't allow BC :p

I'm probably going to get this.  Had GoW1 but never played it and sold it off, never bought GoW2.

Wasn't it not true 720P, and also had frame rate issues?

Had tearing, not real framerate issues though.

The devs themselves say it runs slower.  And it's not 720P like I thought.

It's funny how Sfags trashed Wiimakes like the Metroid Prime Collection, but this is the greatest thing ever.

That's the best idea they had for box art?  It looks less like a remastered "ultimate" edition and more like a budget re-issue from Konami.

So it's not even as good as original BC? Hilarious. I wonder if Sony will be selling "HD MODE" PS2 games on PSN?

this thinking drives me insane

"new original IP bombed, how sad that people dont support new games"

"omg god of war 1+2 on PS3"

"where the fuck is the FFVII remake?"

No, no...that's for the original GoW2 "720P mode" on PS2.  It's not really 720P (what did they say it was...like 576P?) and the frame rate takes a hit.

Let us see, two games I bought for a total of $10. Remastered in 720P and 60fps and will still likely have horrible tearing issues. On top of it all they want $40 for it instead of $30, or even $20.

No thank you.

I do find it funny as somebody said. PS3 remake and it's a golden ticket to profits. But if MS or Nintendo do it, it's milking a system and/or game franchise.

I'll give it a rent. I don't understand why the GOWIII demo isn't on the disk, by the way.

To drive people to sign up for PSN if they haven't already.

Buying it for the trophies.  As much as I think re-releases are pointless, adding achievements/trophies is pretty cool.  See all classic roms re-released on XBLA/PSN.

I'm still undecided whether I will get this.  If there is confirmation of no tearing, then I might consider it.  I mean, if I'm buying these games again, I'd expect it to be the best it could be.  I'm not as upset about this because it reminds me of buying a blu-ray version of a movie I have on DVD.  I've bought movies on blu-ray that I've owned on DVD before.

Had tearing, not real framerate issues though.

I think you're confused.  They're talking about the "HD" mode in the PS2 God of War 2; not this PS3 collection.

The only Xbox game I still have in my shelf that won't work is Riddick and Starbreeze even worked with MS to try to get the BC working, but the shafer tech they used was so specific to the Xbox 1 GPU that they did the re-release.

That's great.  How many Xbox games do you own, three?  I have 41 titles.  Less than half of those are backwards-compatible.

Most of the ones I wanted are BC, besides Rallisport Challenege. Better than sony, where I can only play PSX games on my PS3.

Funny how it looks way better (any res you want) and runs way better under PCSX2.0.

Funny, but not surprising, average PC is running circles around Cell+RSX combo.

Did they actually add width to the screen for this '720p' or just stretch it out? All the QTE indicators are ovals.

I have a lot of Xbox games that don't work on my 360, and many of the working ones still have problems.  It has gotten better since launch at least.  It's at least better than the current PS3 sold without any PS2 BC.

seems like it.  They said that all the hud would be redone, but only the health bar part seems to be.
