Best Buy B2G1 10/25-10/31 (360, PS3, Wii) Games $59.99 or Less
« on: October 24, 2009, 12:20:35 AM »
It seems to have been confirmed over at CAG.

Best Buy in their Sunday ad is having a Buy 2 get 1 free sale on 360, PS3, Wii games priced $59.99.

On a related but kind of OT. I'm torn between Borderlands and Demon's Souls. I'm not big into FPS games. I liked Uncharted 1 because I could take cover and shoot when I wanted. I'm a RPG player, I don't mind a old fashioned Grind Fest. I am leaning toward DS for the RPG aspect, but I like the look at art of Borderlands. SO RPG players, what's the one to get?

PS. If your going to say get them both, I am getting UC2 and R&C A Crack in Time, plus either of the previously mentioned games.

I'm getting Tekken 6 (360) + Smackdown 2010 (360) + ??? (either Ratchet or Forza 3; I'm leaning more towards Ratchet).

$30 Best Buy gift card too  8)

As for Demon's Souls, it's not a grind fest at all. It's hard, and you're going to wind up replaying some levels over and over, but once you know what you're doing you'll never need to grind. It's very similar to an action game really; each stage is fairly linear from beginning to end (there are shortcuts), every enemy has attack patterns, bosses at the end of each stage, etc. Of course it's heavy on stats and crafting and everything else you come to expect from RPG's. DS is my GotY, and perhaps my favorite game of this generation. I'd go with that personally.

Oh, and if you DO feel the need to grind, there's a level that makes it a breeze. It's kinda broken tbh.

GoofyGoober- are you stuck with the PS3 version of Borderlands as your only option?  Might as well pass it over if that's the case.  Or buy a 360.

I'm tempted to get Batman, some other game and a third to flip on ebay to defray the cost of the other two.  Hell, maybe flip everything but Batman.

I have read the online for Borderlands PS3 is broken.

I have the RE 360. So I can buy the 360 version. But I am not so much a dirty poor to not have live as I don't do much online and wouldn't justify the price. So I could get the 360 version but I wouldn't be using the online for a while.

I've read so far as to know that I will die in Demos Souls that is a given. I have read the DS thread, but not the borderlands thread yet. I saw Borderlands at PAX and had fun, but didn't get a chance to play DS yet. Somehow I imagine it as diablo-esque in the way it works. I mean i would be free, but I want something I will play.

Update: That was quick! Gearbox's Steve Gibson sends along word that the dev has already fixed the problem. "We are very pleased to report that using PSN friends lists with the game should now work properly for all PS3 customers. The fix has been released invisibly and should work automatically for all PSN users on the PS3 platform. No special action is required by PS3 customers to apply the fix - just play the game and you'll find that everything works fine now. We thank you all for your patience and for making us aware of the issue!"

They are not keen on exchange for the free item if it rings up on the receipt as $0. If its $40/40/40 then you can't do an eve exchange period.

My BestBuy is out of HOSS NIPS  :'(

I'm planning on getting Borderlands and Forza 3 for the X360, but I need a third game.   Already have or pre-ordered at Amazon for even cheaper than this deal: Brutal Legend/ODST/U2/DemonSouls/Tekken6/Ratchet2/GTALibertyStories :\

I would skip the deal entirely but everyone is telling me to buy Borderlands and there are no discounts on it anywhere.  Well the steam deal but I don't know 3 other people interested.  Not really interested in Forza, but willing to give it a chance because of the good reviews.

Only other recent game I can think of is Sigma 2, or maybe Magna Carta 2? You could try to pick up a placeholder and switch it for something else down the line, but that is pretty YMMV.

All the cool people will be getting Smackdown.  ;)

Already beat Fallout 3 on the superior PC version with mods like MOTORCYCLE.  Not interested in Smackdown.  Only wrestling games I play are the Firepro series.

Could get Sigma 2 but not in a rush to play it.  Can wait for a price drop to $20-30 next year.

Buy any 2 games, get the third free of equal or lesser value.

So if you buy $60 game and a $40 game, you can only get a $40 or less game for free. However if you pick up a $60 game as your third game, the $40 game will be marked as free.

Fire Pro is untouchable, but you should check out King of Colosseum 2 as well. It's from the same dev, so it's basically the 3D version of Fire Pro, except with licensed organizations.

RIP Spike wrestling games  :bawl

does bestbuy let you do exchanges on the two games that you actually pay for, the way TRU does?

I think I'll get ratchet, something to swap for cod, then borderlands for free.

I heard swap is harder here, but I don't know the details.

I actually prefer when swap doesn't work because then stuff is actually LEFT when you go a few days into the sale.  Otherwise everyone just buys up everything and figures they'll swap later.

Still not sure what my 3rd game is, but I'll check on Wed when Forza comes out and if they have Borderlands + Forza in stock I'll buy ...something for my 3rd game.

I'm considering Borderlands, Forza 3, and Demon's Soul but I'm not really sure about it.  I think I want to try Borderlands and Forza 3 before I pull the trigger on either.

Too bad the sale doesn't include pre-orders otherwise it'd be Assassin's Creed 2, MW2, and Demon's Soul.

Buy Tekken 6 and a combo game (Capcom 3-pack, Qubed XBLA pack) and you can just break the $80 limit and get your $40 credit towards a game you want. Get rid of the other game, and you're gold.
