you can configure proxy server in ps3 connection settings, it is somewhere there so it's a bit easier to bypass it at least but haven't tested it myself so you are on your own.

Only different thing sounds like the ability to manage your queue on the PS3 itself. I didn't jump in when it came to the 360 and I doubt I will here.

A disc? Like an install disc? Why the hell wouldn't they just make the software downloadable from PSN? Makes me less likely to take advantage of this.

Also, if it is a one-time install disc, I don't see it being a problem. But if you have to pop it in every time you want to stream a movie no way in hell will I use this feature. Especially when the 360 version is seamlessly integrated into the dash

If I have to pop a disc in everytime to access Netflix on the PS3, I'm not sure if that makes the Gold requirement any more distinguished mentally-challenged.

don't laugh but I'm using MPlayer on a hacked Wii to stream TV shows from my NAS to my bedroom SDTV.

Works pretty well.

If I'm not mistaken Netflix sent out a survey asking about whether customers would like the service on their wii. I dunno the technical stuff, but the Nintendo Channel streams stuff well enough.

Huh? You can also do this on the Xbox 360? I can remove and add films at my leisure, and I can do it by genre, Netflix recommendations, new arrivals, etc.

The streaming service is pretty awesome. Glad our PS3 owners can bask in the glow of streaming media!

I thought the 360 couldn't browse all movie, just what's on your queue and popular ones?

then it's even less appealing for a dual console owner like myself.

I'll probably need to get netflix in november anyway to rewatch all movies I missed for one of my classes.

I signed up for Netflix. 1 disc a month, plus Blu-Ray. My wife seems to want crappy ass chick flicks, so I guess I'll have to step up to 2 discs eventually.

Disc streaming is their only solution so far. But it won't stay that way forever. I'm sure the disc won't be needed next year.

And the disc is only there for verification. I don't think it spins during a stream.

loading when scrolling and when switching categories is really slow and i'm on a wired connection. gonna fire something up and see how slow it is when ff/rw. well that seems quick enough but unless i'm missing somethin it looks like the ps3 wont upscale the image.

Got the streaming disc last night, messed around with it for a few minutes. I've never used Netflix on XBLA, but I'm guessing it's the same aside from having to use a disc. Tons of movies available, most are crap, but there are a lot of documentaries and foreign films that I was interested in seeing but never got around to. You don't have to do anything on your computer, you see a movie and press X and it starts up.
