I count it as a relationship after we talk about being sexually exclusive, etc. or we mutually declare that we're in a relationship. For my situation right now we got in an argument, and then we decided to talk about "what we are" or whatever and it became "a relationship." And then she declared it on Facebook.

Ok, no bullshit mode:

- The sex part was bullcrap.
- I think the whole facebook thing is incredibly immature.
- Having discussions about "what you are" sounds like a red flag.
- The Halloween comment was me being internet cool, that why I used no capital and period. We don't really celebrate that in Holland.

I think the surprise factor is higher when there's never any mention of anniversaries and then: BAM! a gift!

In that regard it doesn't really matter what date you dream up, but it made me wonder about the "official" date.

I use the Chinese method whereby the age of something is counted as the total number of calendar years in some part of which it has existed. This is why I always buy any girl I meet a one-year anniversary present immediately after we first engage in conversation. They don't seem to show their appreciation very well though
