I like Chipotle. Sure, it's far from authentic, but it's good and decently-priced. The wife and I go there a lot since there's one that's a three minute car-ride away. Plus I can fit it into my diet if I get a burrito bowl...it's weird losing weight eating this kind of crap, but it's actually working. I've dropped 8+ pounds in the last few weeks.

burrito bol + steak, fajita veggies, cheese, tomatos, green salsa, sour cream, lettuce = ~600 calories, and not that much fat. it's surprisingly not awful for you. The tortilla adds about 200 or 300 calories

Yeah, the tortilla is crazy high in calories. Gotta leave out the sour cream, too.

sour cream adds ~200, but I think 600 calories is not bad for a meal at all. I need it in there to counter all the acidity from the salsa and seasoning.

I have a finite amount of restaurants with quick take-out (i.e. it's done immediately so I can run off with it right away) within 5 minute walking distance of my apt and I have them on rotation. chipotle gets hit about once a week.

the one thing that really irks me about chipotle is the white rice in their burritos. It tastes plain, just feels weird in "mexican" food, and it's basically the main ingredient in the burritos. If you really want ethnic food (not subway, taco bell, etc) you have to be prepared to spend at least $10 to get full.

This thread is the first time I've really hard of Chipotle. While driving home, I noticed a bit sign saying "CHIPOTLE: MEXICAN GRILL" that's about a 5-10 minute walk from here. I should check it out sometime.

unless you live in canadia or something where good mexican food is hard to come by, you should probably save your 6 bucks. get a hooker. and take pictures. a 6 dollar hooker would definitely be worthy of pictures. plz.

I got baja fresh once and the chicken seemed pretty low grade. I had the same problem with that other place that has that awesome 3 cheese sauce.

yeah, I never buy any (farm) meat from a fast food place. Their shrimp burritos were pretty good though.

you won't buy farm meat, but you'll get seafood? doesn't seafood carry a much higher risk of having diseases and shit?

plus, chipotle meat is great quality for fast food.

I prefer plain avocados to guacamole. I'm def with mups on this one: hole in the wall Mexican places rules all. Only chains I really like are Jack in the Box and In'n'Out.

Despite my Chipotle hate, I absolutely fucking love McDonalds. LOVE.

Five Guys is an awesome chain too. omg. If I want to buy shitty mexican food, I'll go to Taco Smell thank you very much. Costs less and has some taste to it. Also gives you the same mud butt effect.

Regular restaurants, be it a hole-in-the-wall or some upscale joint, are a different animal than fast food places. Chipotle's good considering its competition is in line with Taco Bell.

Chipotle is not a bad restaurant and would likely visit it over McDonalds/Subway/Wendy's etc on some days. But if I'm hungry for Mexican food, the last place in my mind is Chipotle.

I don't know what area/region/country you are in Lyte, but having lived in SoCal. When I said local joint I mean the Robertos/Aliberto/Alberto/Rolijitos places that are fast food, are at least count in SoCal.

I can hold out until spring, where is tako truk? I get my burrito and mexican fill when I head to SoCal for holidays.

Tako Truk was at the Eastlake Block Party on the 4th of July, and I ate everything on their menu in honor of America. It was a glorious day.

Yeah, but taco bell is easily half the price for the same amount of food and has more flavor.
