Cancer is terrible
« on: December 14, 2006, 08:51:20 AM »
I can't even speak to my grandfather now because he can't talk back. He no longer eats, he can't walk, and he's lost so much weight.

You know cancer is bad, but when you really someone you've looked up to as a strong figure your entire life break before your eyes, you realize that shit is more fucked up than what it appeared to be.

Sad. To go out this way would really suck.

Yeah cancer sucks. One of my cousins from Jamaica died from cancer February this year at the age of 19.  :(

I'd post a link to the site that was made for her while she was dealing with it, but I don't trust some of you here. You might leave some type of dumbass message there.  >:(

Tell that to HAMSTERS

Seriously tho, yeah it sucks. But if it isnt Cancer something else would kill us wholesale.

My grandfather died of cancer as well, and I recall the night before his death pretty clearly. Mostly because he didnt recognize me which was weird.

My grandfather was the strongest dude in the world. He lived to 75 and I don't think he spent a day of it indoors. WHen cancer finally came for him, it was awful. Here was someone who had practically made his name in a garden and now he can't even get out of bed? It was a blessing when he finally died and it was mercifully swift.

Sorry to hear, Himuro. I hope it's quick.

My gramps went via brain cancer, he was fighting it, and then he fell, and then fell again, it was quick after that.

Cancer sucks.

That's how my dad died.  It started in his lungs, metastasized to his spine, then to his brain.  Once it hit his brain, within two weeks he didn't recognize anyone.  Pretty much went crazy.  It was really difficult and I don't even think I've ever quite recovered or properly dealt with the mental trauma, despite having a somewhat tarnised relationship with him.

My grandma has cancer in her throat.  For a long time she couldn't talk and couldn't eat.  They started therapy and they said the actual chances of it helping were very slim.  She lost all her hair, got very weak and dropped to ~75 pounds.  Luckily it went into regression, far enough to perform surgery.  It's been about a year after surgery and she is currently cancer free.  She is not the same though.  She is a lot weaker than she used to be and her hair didn't grow back.  I love her and I thank God that she is still with us and that it disappeared, but I know she feels very frustrated sometimes.  She has yet to see her first great-grandaughter (my daughter) and she told me she wants to before she dies.  I'm hoping that in the next few months I can take a trip to see her with my daughter.

Cancer runs in my family.  Everyone has had it on my dad's side.  It's pretty safe to say I will get it and it scares me.  My dad has 3 types of cancer.  He has stomach, skin and lung cancer.  I can't fucking wait for my turn.  :(

Edit: Oh and my Grandmother on my mom's side got cancer a few years before she died.  It was stomach cancer, I believe.  I was pretty young.  It spread and affected her memory.  She got alzheimers due to it even after they got rid of the cancer.  She used to wake up in the middle of the night and ask for my Grandpa.  She used to freak out saying he wasn't there and that she was worried.  Some days she would forget who we were and lock herself in her room because she was confused as to why there were people in her house.  One night she woke up and started screaming at my mom because my Grandpa wasn't there.  She kept calling my mom a lousy daughter because she wouldn't call the police or look for him.  She had these sessions and usually they would last for about an hour before she forgot about it again.  It stayed longer this time and my mom had to tell her that my Grandpa was dead and had been dead for 2 years.  I'll never forget the look on her face.  That night fucked me up so much for a long time.

No, it's the one in Tennessee.  I mentioned the one that lived in Mexico in my edit.  She was so sweet.

My best friend (the girl i was talking about in my other thread) just learned today that they have found possibly cancerous cells in her uterus according to the results of her last pap test.

I'm freaking THE FUCK OUT right now.

Without her, i'm nothing. She changed my life around and we've been inseparable since we met. THIS CANNOT HAPPEN

Chill out dude, it doesn't mean she has cancer. If they know as much about it as you claim they can surely remove the cells. At worse they could remove her entire uterus but even then she wouldn't die. At least I don't think she would

Human beings weren't biologically made to live as long as we do now with the level of comfort and technology that the 20th century brought forth... and some people have inferior DNA... cancer is one of the possible effects of that, it isn't exactly a "disease"

both my grandfathers died from it, and recently I've learned that my grandmother's brother (which I really loved) has just developped it too... meh it's terrible, but hey, that's life...

serves nothing to get worked up or overly saddened over these kinds of inevitable events, i prefer not to let the terror win

Yeah.

Some of my favorite songs are about or inspired by cancer though.

Everything
Everything gives you cancer
Everything
Everything gives you cancer
Theres no cure, theres no answer
Everything gives you cancer

Dont touch that dial
Dont try to smile
Just take this pill
Its in your file

Dont work hard
Dont play hard
Dont plan for the graveyard
Remember -

Everything
Everything gives you cancer
Everything
Everything gives you cancer
Theres no cure, theres no answer
Everything gives you cancer

Dont work by night
Dont play by day
Youll feel all right
But you will pay

No caffeine
No protein
No booze or
Nicotine
Remember -
