Probably not. It was cute for the first few months, but damn if keeping track of all the friend code shit isn't a chore.

The dumbest move in online gaming not working out? Shocking.
It's funny. I go register for forums and I can put in all info easily, except the Wii Friend Code. Hell, do all new games use the standard one? I remember MP3 was the first to use it. Right?

What's a friend code (seriously, I have limited exposure to the Wii)?

You can't create a unique screen name for the Wii? Really? :lol

A 12 digit code that you have to use to play with other people online.  You get a unique code for EVERY game.

Does anyone on EB even play online Wii games?  Off the top of my head the only time I've ever gone online with Wii since launch was SSBB and that was a year ago+.  I think I used online more on the PS2, lol

Random matchmaking is okay.  You jump on, play the same ruleset as everyone else, have fun for an hour and jump off.  Any "friend" games are stupid difficult to meet up outside of internet communication unless you're a gamefaqs regular.  Friend games are further pointless with the almost complete lack of communication.  But, I have fun with the matchmaking on most games, simply because cpu opponents are exploitable.

It's great when Nintendo would go around to developers each year asking why more of us aren't adding online support to their Wii games and what to change. They really ARE clueless about how it works.

Using my powers of deduction I can tell you didn't vote 'yes'.  On that basis I believe your post is entirely sarcastic in nature.

I did vote yes.  But the rest was merely a ruse using my cunning trickery in attempt to lure the gullible into thinking that I was postificating with the utmost of seriousness.

I think the more disturbing fact is that we have 48 replies to the poll.  Do we really have 48 people here on the gaming side?  That seems like REALLY high.  If not why are these random strangers concerned about our friends codes?  Do they want to try to molest us?  Thank goodness for Nintendo's strategy to protect us from molesters.  Wait, but the molesters can see the thread!  But we can't see their friend code.  ok safe for now.

I voted No.  I always thought FC were a disaster and the fact that the codes are required for individual games is doubly distinguished mentally-challenged.

Aren't these friend codes just for, like, sending digital post cards to each other via the Wii?  It's nice that Nintendo is finally embracing this online phenomenon, but I don't get it.

You can gift games on the vc/wiiware service.  Games that require sending files to other wiis require the system code too.

I voted "No, LOL Wii"

Friend codes are awkward and painful to set up an online match.  We managed to schedule a time for a friend halfway across the country to play Mario Kart Wii.  It took forever and still didn't work right.  Then once we got it set up, the game disconnected us about a third of the way in.

Nintendo is always several days late and more than a few dollars short.  I hope the Wiii no longer takes a half assed approach to playing online but I'm sure they consider the friend codes to be a smash success and will continue them for the next generation.

Gifting is done via the Shop Channel so I don't think you can just send something you've installed via wad to someone else.  :P
