NSMB Wii Thread
« on: November 07, 2009, 04:07:13 PM »
Its November 7th, if I recall rightly this isn't out in America til the 15th and its not out in PAL territories until the 20th?

A fecked up version that crashes after about 10 minutes has hit the webs, and a 1:1 copy is likely leaking tonight.

Kinda funny too as I just read this as well:

Quote from: Iwata
“As for the piracy itself, it is said to be hard to precisely figure out the total impact as it is done underground. But I think I can declare that software piracy impacts all video game platforms today.”

Not PS3, Satoru!

Quote from: Iwata
Iwata went on to detail he ways in which Nintendo is attempting to fight the battle.
“As for specific measures, we have two ways – technological and legal measures,” Iwata explained.

“They tend to become a cat-and-mouse chase. As the piracy itself is underground, someone somewhere finds out the solution to evade our measures. When we shut one hole of the mice, they have dug a new one somewhere else.

“We have acknowledged that this is an endless battle, and we believe the best measure is to keep fighting it technologically and legally.

"As for the details of specific measures, I'll refrain from disclosing them here, as this conversation will be public online and the pirates will be able to find. I will however promise to keep acting legally and technologically, with patience.”

DS and Wii are two of the most Pirated systems I've ever seen, and here we have their flagship title for the holiday leaping onto torrent sites over a week early. Nintendo need to slap their ninjas, they be slackin.

Interesting...seems like 1st party nintendo games always leak.

Speaking of which, how hard is it to hack a wii?  Need to buy anything external or can you go to EBgames, buy a used wii, and do it yourself.

Easier than a PSP. All you need is an SD card and Twilight Princess. Though I did that a while ago so I don't know if there's other methods out there these days.

It's a shitty rip that won't work on USB loaders and read errors display after about 20 to 30 minutes.

@ Kranz: This is what I used to mod my Wii.  It took me about ~2 hours and that was partly due to me screwing up once.  I can only verify that it will work on FW 4.0 and nothing beyond that.

Cool.  I'm more curious if the retail one is going to come with DELETE YOUR HAX firmware requirement, cause I actually like buying Mario games but I don't want it to not play on my hacked wii or screw with my hax.  I figure if there's any game Nintendo will use to mess with people's wii's through forced upgrade requirements it'll be NSMB Wii and Galaxy 2.

Any Wii hack that takes more than 10 minutes would not be worth it for me. I'd bootleg punch out for an hour and then I'd go back to not turning it on.

that's what I'm feeling.  I'm like "hmm, I can get a cheap wii and games for free" then I give up because there are so few games I even care to try...and they're all rehashes of stuff I played years ago.

Yeah, I'd heard hacking the Wii was dirt simple but likely to brick it in the long run. I'm just going to stick with US releases; I am entirely uninterested in running pirated games, I just want to play stuff from outside my region.

The game works now.

Use Wiiscrubber and replace the main.dol with this:

On world 3 now. Game is ok.

I used neogamma 7.

On the eve of Modern Warfare 2's release, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime is throwing the gauntlet. He says New Super Mario Bros Wii will outsell either the PS3 or Xbox 360 version of Modern Warfare 2.

"Now, you've got to give me the entire holiday selling season, right, so let's take it all the way through the January NPD data," Fils-Aime told GameTrailers TV. "Yes. I'll take that... I'll put that stake in the ground."

MW2 publisher Activision, meanwhile, thinks their game could be the best-selling title of all time. Even if MW2 doesn't reach that milestone, it's still a hell of a game to pit your product against. New Super Mario Bros. Wii comes out on November 15th while MW2's out tomorrow.

btw the controls feel even floatier and looser than nsmb ds.  it's not game ruining or anything, but it feels awkward.  wall jumps are particularly bad since you don't seem to able to actually wall jump immediately after you hug on a wall, it is like you have to wait a few frames to have the "cling" animation come out before you can actually wall jump

It does for me. Just replace the main.dol, burn it and use the neogamma 7 loader.

I really can't play this game for a long period of time. Gets boring so fast. I guess I'm tired of the formula. Currently at world 4, and I don't think I'll be tounching this for a long time.
The graphics really suck, gameplay is good but eventually boring, music is very mediocre. A 7 from EDGE sounds like a good score so far.

The only PC people who will buy MW2 are gullible idiots who buy a PC from Best Buy and the peon at the store tells them they need to have MW2 on their new Acer with integrated Intel graphics.

PC FPS fans are playing Valves games and waiting for Bad Company 2 in March.

Not feeling this :\

The sound effects suck
The music sucks
The graphics look blurry at 480i and at 480p they look sharp but jaggy/scanliney?  Is this game even running at 480p?

The gameplay though....I dunno.  It feels "off".  It feels slow and unresponsive.  I can't tell if this is because of the physics and momentum or maybe because this is a PAL rip and since PAL runs slower maybe that's causing it?  (I don't know much about PAL being USA USA).  Anyhow it feels off and I'm not jumping/landing exactly when I want to and where I want to.

The motion control stuff early on is super gimmicky.  It's kinda neat and then after a few seconds is eh.  Having to lift the controller up to lift things is a REALLY BAD IDEA since you still have to hold 1 and it throws them once you let go of 1.

Also the Wii control horizontal has to be one of the most uncomfortable controllers in existance.  No fun playing games like that.

Was kind of excited for this, now not really interested it playing it :(  The main issue is just how slow the game feels even holding the run button the whole time.  It's so much slower than the old games and Giana Sisters DS.  :'(

Game is fuckawesome.  The graphic style still isn't preferable but it looks much better than it did on DS, definitely.  Much more lively and colorful.  Music is, for the most part, pretty strong other than that "bwaa bwaa" bullshit.  The athletic theme :hyper

Ok, I didn't realize you could play with nunchuck.  Controls are 100x better now.

Also 480i is the way to go it seems.  It's more blurry but the blurriness hides the horrible jaggies when it's sharp and the soft look isn't too bad for Mario.
